All's well in the TY department. He lazed around the house yesterday and has a big plan to get the car washed today, something I think he can handle. The good news is that this little episode scared him big time- his BP was 50 over 13 when he went over on the floor of the ER and he says he saw the light and the tunnel... I don't know about that, he really just fainted and was revived quickly but whatever, he now realizes he has to listen to his body when it says STOP!
He's starting to resist the low residue diet restrictions and is getting cranky- says he's hungry. No doubt. So this morning was a huge pile of buttermilk pancakes (I put blueberries in mine with fake UGH syrup). Sorry I ever thought it might fool me. HE got the real stuff. After the third one he declared himself 'overserved' so Molly got the last of them so *I* don't nibble on cold pancakes all day.
I did manage to get to the studio yesterday, mainly to get stuff put away from all my projects. there wasn't a place to sit down because my books and magazines were piled high, unread because I've been too busy. The shelves for display are overflowing and need to be weeded out, and the huge tabletop I use for encaustic work is a mountain range of dripped sticky wax buildup. I really need to change all the protective freezer papers and start over but it just seems like too big a job for no return right now since I am still building the drip piles. Found a cute stalagtite that had grown right under my griddle- couldn't bring myself to disassemble it! The other work table was piled high with papers and drawing stuff and transfer projects for the Sketchbook Project which is due IMMEDIATELY but still has some uncluttered pages. That's first on the list to finish. Second on the list is the damn resin dog that is only half finished and due this month for her clear-coat. I just can't get excited about this any longer, but need to get back to the glue pot for her.
Today I hope to take some final pictures of a few pieces so I can hang 'em up and stop looking at them. Funny, isn't it, how one can stop looking at the work once it is hung up? It may as well be spray painted white to match the walls, that's how(!) today and see if they have any homasote because I have decided to do the whole wall afterall. The strips I already installed just aren't working for me, I need more space for hanging, especially if I do another Open Studio. Oy, the cleaning and reorganization that would entail... UGH. What the hell, I will simply think about that some other time.
So, for now, it's off to the studio I go. TY needs the car for the carwash so I get a ride over and will be at his disposal to get home at some point. No dilly-dallying.
Although you may be tempted to escape into a lovely fantasy now, you need to be more focused than ever. Your unfettered dreams can help you be more confident, but they are also a distraction from the serious work at hand. You might not want to pay attention to the details, but overcoming your own resistance is the first step toward reaching your goals in the weeks ahead.
Damn, this blog needs pictures! I'll get right on it. How's this one?
I hope that old snowbird didn't drive all the way from Alaska.
ReplyDeleteCatching up on your blog - reading backwards to hear what happened to TY. Yikes! BTW - I think those chain encaustics are wonderful. Yep, make a herd of 'em.
