It is outside their knowledge somehow. So anyway, I looked it up to see if it is something beyond what I understand. No. Cafe au lait is espresso and hot milk, no foam. Could be coffee and hot milk. <br /><br />I compared it to a cappuccino and found that to be related to... wait for it... wait for it... Capuchin monks. Yes that's right.
