First of all, I am alone this weekend, unplanned to be that way, but circumstances intervened. Today I was out the door at 6:15 to get the doggie over to the golf course to meet her pals, home by 7 when the mowers and fertilizer guys show up. So I was sitting around drinking more coffee and decided that I may as well be Doing Something Productive so took the dog and went off to the studio. It was barely light out. I stayed at work until almost 5:00 and might not have noticed the time except for the hungry dog KNOWING it was time for dinner and doing her up-my-leg crawl of desperation. 10 and a half hours is enough for one day. Good thing I took some chicken with me or I'd be found as a pile of bleached bones sometime in the future when someone finally missed me.
Major project today was to fix up a $29 table I bought at TJ's. It had a cheezy red leather-ish top on steel legs that slip under a chair side, a good height and perfect at the sofa. I changed out the fake red leatherish patent alligator top for a much better fake leather tan matte alligator top. It went back together nicely and sure looks better. I knew my roll of fake leather-ish alligator embossed stuff would come in handy some day. That took a good chunk of time.
Then I worked on the quilt and got the 2 babies all pieced together with their new faces. They are all of a piece and ready to applique down. I tried several permutations of a table but nothing looked right so I abandoned that plan and went back to the simpler original one of just the portrait, no filler stuff. Now, to get it into the machine and wrapped up. I HOPE to finish it this week.
Meanwhile I take a break here and there and do little somethings to the collage. Today I sewed the sky to the grass and added a row of embroidery stitches so the background is ready for applique. I also got the three girl's pinafores ready to applique down, and about a hundred birds scanned and photoshopped so I will always have them as sources. As soon as I print them I can start that applique too, just hoping that they aren't overly photoshopped in the prints. Must try that tomorrow to check, sure don't want any suprises as I get closer and closer to the guillotine/due date.
Got myself embroiled in a trivia game tonight and am thoroughly embarrassed at my lack of common sense and knowledge of pretty easy questions. There were 11 of us on the team and the things I was most sure of were the things I got wrongest (Yeah, I said WRONGEST.) What the hell. I had 6 years of higher education and never bought a book after Jansens. You know Jansen's? It's a 20# art book that mentions women in about three places. AND THEY ARE STILL USING IT. What is wrong with this picture? I should have majored in anthropologie (yes, I know I mean 'Anthropology', but much prefer the store...) Anyway, I did agree with the Jesuit Priest that Corona is the largest imported beer in the US because we all know that those of you on the west coast do not drink Heineken! We got that right and high fived for the rest of the night, or at least until we had to come up with the largest selling Kellogg product of all time and we were all too old to even think of PopTarts since it wasn't invented until 1964. Duh... See what I mean? Oh well, a good meal was served, a few wines tided me over, and I managed to keep my face out of the cookie plate.
And tomorrow I go back to the studio to start all over again until the Juno Art Walk which I may try if I need a break. Here is my Horror for the day, very interesting:
You are receiving glimpses of a possible future that is very different from the one you previously imagined. However, it's too soon to know exactly what this fuzzy vision will become as you gain clarity about your plans. One thing is for certain: you aren't as stuck as you thought you were. There's no need to push against any resistance you may be feeling; it will dissipate as your new goals come into focus.
Tomorrow I'll give you another plant report. Things aren't looking good.
