Can't Help It

Been a busy weekend but not in the studio. I'm still waiting for the boards to get here from Blick, and I thought today might do it. NO DELIVERIES. I stood out at the end of the driveway looking forelorn for an hour or so but no trucks came by. Maybe tomorrow. I'm also waiting for my yarn delivery, 10 days now. I managed to break the cable on my Denise set of interchangable needles and lost a foot or so of knitting- it took me most of the weekend to reconstruct the damage. When it broke it really sprug apart and the rayon yarns just went their own willy nilly ways. Today I bought a new permanent single needle so now I have to transfer the mess onto that. the broken cable was the longest one in the set, the one I used all the time, I am bummed.

We went to a wine pairing dinner the other night which is normally a waste of time on me since all I care about is the food. But the first wines were good and the next pairing was with a beet ravioli which I love so I stayed witb the program, downing one glass after another with each course. By the beets I was blotto. But next came a generous piece of foie gras along with some beef. I*love*foie*gras*. I was sitting with a bunch of (ahem) unsophoisticated philistines who all ---Yeah ALL--- passed their foie gras on to me until it was simply piled on my plate. And I attacked it with relish (excitement, I mean, no relish!) and finally had my fill of it for the first time in my life. I couldn't stick one more fork full in my mouth even when I pretended to BE the DUCK... OMG, it was a lovely few moments. I passed my steak on to TY, pffffft. And the Venison and the elk sausage were also passed on as I sat there looking like a Cheshire cat licking my whiskers. Hey, no carbs in foie gras! Whattya know...

The next night we got invited to a friend's house who just happened to have made a bubbling pot of Bolognese sauce that day. I wanted to ask for a soup spoon and a bowl but kept my big mouth shut and suffered through a pile o pasta that I tried hard to cut into a reasonable portion. Really, I tried. Yum, it was good! And of course I was into the wine again that night. We had a great time enjoying the hospitality of some new friends. But today I'm back on the cottage cheese and lettuce program and feeling sorry for myself.

Well, guess I better go transfer the 400 stitch abomination onto the new needles. I can't knit because I need the new colors before I go on. Rats.
This one made me actually go past my usual smirk.

Winkies- Have you heard of these? I found this on a fairly old blog so it's been around awhile- HOW did I miss this? Of course those of us with the flat-ass issue won't make any body parts animate, a board is a board is a board. My favorties are the talking birds, stay tuned.

And I bet you didn't realize Conan's dedication to perfection on his new show. Here he is doing some in-depth dyeing in India, very funny. Guess I'll have to watch his show someday.

  1. I afraid the trucks with all your goods yet to be delivered are hung up here on the ice in ATL.

  2. Love the winkies, but needs some editing, as in once you've seen it, got the idea, move on. The ducks were best.
