Wahooo! I got a call today from the acquisitions committee of the New England Quilt Museum and they have chosen this piece, 'Lotus Eaters, Tastes Like Chicken' for their permanent collection. I apologize for the crappy photo- I had to capture it off my website because for some reason it wasn't included on the CD I made of all my quilts to haul around. And it sure makes a point of how awful my website is- I must get at it when I get home and back to my original photos
I am very happy over this, if for the only reason to go ***PFFFFFFT*** to the leader of the Art Quilt Bloggers Ring that wouldn't accept me! Whatever. I do know that I don't much belong in the Fiber Art Blog Ring with the quality of my knitting. I kind of thought it was about all sorts of fiber but it sure seems to be wool 99% of the time. Most of those folks raise and shear their sheep and can discuss various breeds in relationship to the wool they produce. All I do is buy some pretty colors and make up patterns!
Again, I do not fit very well, but they must have had a very large space to fill.
Spent the morning cooking some more- finished up the poached garlic in half and half for the smashed potatoes, then I fried up some shallots for the garnish. I also peeled and blanched the tiny onions that will be added to the brussel sprouts. Then I went to the store for another onion or two and came out with 10 other things and forgot the onions. The last thing I did today was to carmelize the chopped onions with the butternut squash so that's ready for the soup. Tomorrow I brine the turkey in the evening so it will be ready by morning, I get the stuffing mixed up and in the casserole, I blanch the brussel sprouts, and just generally pick up junk around the house.
Oh today I also stopped by Home Depot to grab some impatients for the glaringly empty pots on the deck- BUT neglected to get potting soil so have to go back for that now too. I thought I had a bag in the garage but must have used it in last year's planting frenzy. I just may go across the street to where they removed the huge oak that fell over- bet I could steal enough dirt for a pot without being noticed.
And I am thinking I need to go home, hopefully before Christmas so I can do some shopping and wrapping for the kids.
