Crook Requisite

Yeah, it's been a while. First the Molly Review: I've taken Molly to the beach and unleashed her- she behaved admirably and went prancing up to every dog and person she saw. When she headed for two Bernese Mountain Dogs, fresh from an ocean swim, I got a bit nervous fearing one would step on her since she was acting like a flea hopping around. She had Clifford the Standard Poodle fall in love with her but he couldn't get her to run so he could chase, kept nipping her ass but she would just sit. She has a lot to learn about 'play'. Went also to the dog park yesterday and made more friends. In short, her life is a hell of a lot more exciting than mine lately.

I did retail therapy yesterday after TY left for Boston, The whole trouble was my $47 extra cash card that arrived from Saks that was burning a hole in my pocket- I cannot begin to tell you how much that free money cost me. First I did Saks and got rid of the card 4X over, then I hit out for some sneakers but ended up in Chicos. Their stuff is cheaply made but it all fits me so well that I am seduced in the door and then into the fitting room and I end up buying everything I try on. I bought a new outfit for my 'date' on Sunday night- the Walking Nazi invited me and another couple and our single friend Bob out, so I am his 'date'. I am planning on doing it up big to make him nervous because he is about as straight as one can imagine. He will be a mere catnip mouse to my cheetah .

I had started felting little balls to make necklaces and I finally have some examples: This one is made by knitting little balls and then felting them. They are strung on a rubber thread with simple knots between. I may or may not add some beading.
Next is an example of some white felted beads that I have been making as I brush Molly. I had meant to talk to her groomer to save some hair but she seemed a bit put out enough that she had such a job to do on her so I will just use hair that I harvest myself. Here is the groomer working on her through a frosted window, and the beads so far. These I know I want to add little beads to, both between and embroidered on their surface:

And finally, a multi-step process for a necklace I am working on- I found some tiny (like 1") military cars and tanks and trucks in the toy aisle so painted them gold and added rhinestones and crystals. I am removing the back wheels and replacing them with amber round beads exactly the same size and then adding spacers between those. The problem I have is I cannot find the right size needle and wire to go through the tiny axle holes. I may have to actually ASK an EXPERT at the bead store. Ideas anyone?

The last thing for tonight is my shell project- I have maybe 15 great big conch (and other) shells that my mom gave me over the years- most arre pretty fossilized and not in great shape, so I am painting them gold. The same gold paint I got for the little cars. It's not acrylic and the fumes are really strong so I am drying them outside for the night.

And finally, but you'll have to check back tomorrow, I am putting together two quilt tops that I started as demos for the class. We only meet one more time so I want them done by next Tuesday. I plan on taking pictures of all the student work then too so will post it too.

And ask me about my knitting. And don't forget the paint-by-numbers thing. Oy, I gotta write more often.
