Fiber Art Calls for Entry You can sign up for notifications to get Calls For Entry from this blog put out by the fine folks at the Sedgewick. What a great idea, thanks!
My horror-scope for Thursday: Jump headfirst into today with a good combination of optimism and skepticism.
The good news is that I got my little decoupage plates underway once I got my printer back in working order. I thought it was a goner for sure and was looking at 'Plan B' new printers but I turned it off for 2 days and it's come back strong. First thing I did was print 6 of the wood cell photos (see a couple of days ago) and get them adheared to the backs of the plates. There are a couple of little places the glue didn't stick like I wanted, but for the most part they look fabulous. I will head back to Pottery Barn for more of their glass dishes, maybe bigger next time, to become a real threat to John Derian. (Fat Chance) I'll get the photos up tomorrow of what the finished product looks like. I may just give little sets of these to everyone for Christmas or other present-gathering festivities coming up.
I finished the Julie/Julia Project today. Mandy left it here after she finished it and I already had it on the iPod so read some, listened some. Now will lend it to the Nazi- but by doing so I know she will be offended by several aspects of it- 1. Julie is always dissing Republicans, and 2. She talks about sex and says fuck a whole lot, and 3. the Nazi has her ways of doing things that this book will disrupt psychically. Bet she doesn't get far into it. We'll see.
The TMJ is killing me lately, I wake up with terrible headachs at 4 AM and the mouthpiece isn't doing anything like it's supposed to. I have shooting pains down the back of my neck now too. This sucks.
Tonight I am going to see 'Crash' at the only theater in South Florida that is still showing it. I would rather lie down and close my eyes, but have to do this 'for the team'. Right now I have a brisket and carrots-potatoes-cabbage boiling away and I am hoping that it contains the same miracle powers for Irish folks that chicken soup does for Jews.
AND I got the paint for the backs of the little decoupage plates and found sanding blocks that work great to smooth the tiny folds out. This project is a winner, but I can't photograph it till it's dry enough to turn over. I am wondering what to do about the edges- maybe a silver paint pen- whatever, it will have to be small and held by a steady hand.
