Spam Filter Now Under Control

It's been raining cats and dogs for two days- Here's one of 'em.

SPAM VEGETABLE STRUDEL
1 pk Long-grain and wild rice-mix (6.25 oz)
1/2 c Chopped carrot
1/2 c Chopped red bell pepper
1/4 c Orange juice (huh?)
1 cn SPAM Luncheon Meat, cut in-thin strips (12 oz)
2 c Chopped mushrooms
1/4 c Sliced green onions
1 tb Dijon-style mustard
1/2 ts Basil
1/4 ts Pepper
6 Sheets frozen phyllo pastry-thawed
Butter-flavor vegetable-cooking spray
1 tb Dry bread crumbs
Soy sauce

Heat oven to 375'F. Prepare rice according to package directions. In
small saucepan, combine carrots, red pepper, and orange juice. Bring
to a boil. Cover and cook 5-7 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain
well. Place in medium bowl. In large skillet, saute SPAM, mushrooms,
and green onion until tender. Add SPAM mixture, rice, mustard, basil,
and pepper to vegetable mixture; stir well. Place 1 sheet phyllo
pastry on a damp towel (keep remaining phyllo covered). Lightly coat
phyllo with cooking spray. Layer remaining 5 sheets phyllo pastry on
first sheet, lightly coating each sheet with cooking spray. Spoon
SPAM mixture lengthwise down center of phyllo stack, leaving a 1/2"
border. Roll phyllo jelly-roll style, starting with long side
containing SPAM mixture. Tuck ends under; place diagonally, seam side
down, on baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Lightly coat top of
pastry with cooking spray and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Make 12
(1/4" deep) diagonal slits across top of pastry using a sharp knife.
Bake 20 minutes or until golden. Serve with soy sauce.

Sorry I can't change the color of the font to SPAM PINK on the Mac- Blogger doesn't like Macs, but they claim that thye will someday accomodate us. I am holding my breath. The PINK font would make it ever so much more appealing, doncha think?

Woo, busy day. Stayed up way too late last night knitting while TY was at the screeniing of Laurence of Arabia. The Coolidge Corner Theater used to be our local hangout but now it's an 'ahht house' and even sells tee shirts along with soft serve frozen yogurt and candy I never heard of (and that is going some!) But-- back to me-- I finished the back on this hideous sweater and found myself making new plans to hurry up the process: maybe if I make it a deep V neck there won't be SO MUCH orange... maybe I should make it short sleeves instead of long like the pattern... maybe I should make it a dog sweater! I THOUGHT it would be a sort of bright and happy sweater for Florida, since it's some odd combo of rayon and cotton, but it's not knitting up as I envisioned and I do not like the way the variegated colors are clumping together instead of striping. Oh damn, why don't I take a picture and stop all this wordy stuff.

So today I called the li-berry (as they say around here) and locked in my hanging date and take-down date for the show. I also started working on the placard to sit on an easel in front of the door SO I called the family art director who did not like my font choices at all, went into how I need an 'identity' and of course he is too busy to help but he suggested (strongly) that I should adopt this one particular booooorrrrrrring font that he likes a bunch- then he started telling me how many variations I need of it to establishe this nebulous 'identity' and it comes to $125 for just the font! Screw that- I am back to my on-screen choices and I will blow them up as big as possible to make templates to cut out of fabric for the sign. Geesh.

The show will be called COLLAGED QUILTS / QUILTED COLLAGE. And Next, (after tomorrow because I will be busy sitting at the car dealership all day) I will deal with getting Fandango onto a postcard and ordering a minimal amount. Basically I will scan it and e-mail it to most people, then just send it to anybody else who I think might stop by- both of them. I don't have a clue as to what to do about publicity, guess that will be the day after tomorrow's project. Other than a few local newspapers, I don't know who would print about it.

AND in the midst of all this I started a new quilt- oh, when I get the back of the orange sweater photographed, I'll take that picture too. It going to be called 'Handwork', and actually uses PINK. Oy. Time for my evening wine now that I have had my evening whine. Picture

Here is the hand piece for Houston- It says on the inside of the wrist: "HAND me the grasshopper". Bet there won't be too many hands with grasshoppers.
The embroidery shows up better in person.
