Inscriptionally Bone-Clasped Epherema

I have been trying to get this old quilt whipped into shape- told you about it last time. Here are a few of the in-progress shots: First, the back of the old Irish Chain top I am using as the background. Yeah, hand stitched but using only the awful-est fabrics known to man, and a pink-and-red combination to boot.

Next is a closeup fo one of the Dresden plates, or whatever it is called when the wedges have points- they were poorly constructed so when I tried to flatten them they formed a volcano. When I removed one of the wedges they would flatten right out so that is why I am calling it 'He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not".

Third cannibalized quilt was these circles Barb gave me years ago. I have no clue what they were originally used for but they are filthy and stiff with age. I am sticking them into the centers of the flower heads and then all around.

Fourth esample of unused quilt blocks was provided by Sylvia, and because of the butterflies I had to haul this puppy out of the bottom drawer to use them. Now I need more butterflies, bigger ones, so have a few earmarked on eBay.

And finally a confession, I cut up my round robin quilt top that the Coven made for me- there were some great Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks in this old depression fabric they seemed to work. It took me longer to cut these out of their former quilttop that was really worth it as they had been beautifully machine appliqued and heavily fused. OK, I lost a few edges but they fill in some bare spaces.

So, the almost-whole top:
Frankl;y I am surprised ar how few of the add-ons even show against the red and white- I may have to re-think. Or maybe I mean just the Initial Think.

A closer view:

And a real close-up of the upper right corner where I was forced to use all the wedges I had cut out of the other plates to make loose petals. I DO understand that this is way more info than was necessary.

Now, the other day Sylvia said something interesting to me as I was explainging how to crochet plastic grocery bags- she said she can now define herself as a 'Maker' because she is always manipulating supplies and found stuff too. I have been thinking about this for several days and I am liking this title rather than 'Artist' or 'Quilt-Maker' or 'Craftsperson'. From now on I will be a 'Maker' and that should cover everything I do. Damn, that means I need new cards again.
Yes folks, there is a crochet Poo Pattern in case you just don't have enough critters crapping in your house already.

Instructables, a website with (what else?) instructions, one among them being this bacon mat, a breakfast treat!

A recessive gene? Hmmm, this is what I passed on to my kids, but black, poor things. One went through school being known as Bomb Head, the other figured he was Kramer-esque. And I could never figure out how to deal with it.

Phrenology

Death Urns, but cuddly ones.
