I finished the ugly sweater the other day.
I did a few too many modifications as I was building it, and unfortunately the arms are way floppy- I am thinking I may take a tuck and add a button on each one because to make a change in the sleeves I would have to rip out all the darn seams, then rip back both sleeves. The number of stitches are just too many even though it is to gauge. perhaps if I wold have done the icky ribbing it would fit better, but it's just too late, baby. So, another thing to wear once with old jeans, then archive in the back of the cupboard until I get over it about giving it to Goodwill.

I spent hours and hours scanning slides of old quilts the other day. My scanner cuts off edges so nothing is good, and the slides are degraded but at least I got some done to stick on a disk that I will file away and forget about. The year of this one is 1986, and it was done with the stuff I picked up off the floor around my machine after finishing another piece. This one is living over at Wellesley College, last I heard.

And in the studio, I ripped off the little tide pool that I couldn't sew through and now it is easy peasy to applique down the sand lines diagonally across the linen. As if I am in a hurry to get at it. Boring work, and here is is without the circles:Now the circles I love even though the transfers suck, so I have reworked them into a collage using just the ones with the teeny dead fish in the centers. Here is the naked collage, trying out different backings and bindings, and waiting for a definitive method of hanging to be decided upon as well as some bead placement.
Anyway, I am pretty happy with it and have enough circles for a few more but no time to get at it while I am home. Maybe I will postpone my flight and not tell anyone so I can just work for a few days straight. You won't report me to the authorities, will you?
