LIVE, from Memorial Day Weekend

Officially this is 2 years since my dad died, nice of him to do it on Memorial Day weekend so I don't have to think about it twice, eh? Thinking back I know I could have done better by him, could have forced him out of his comfort zone and installed him closer to me but in the end, who would that have benefitted? He didn't really want me around hovering, and I know myself well enough to know I would have quickly grown resentful. So, he's gone, I miss him sort of, but I think what I really miss is my childhood when he was my hero and I expected him to run for president some day.

So, being home I have plowed through all the things I needed to do. All the parts of 4 different shows are in the hands of the curators and hangers. Funny how all the dates came together at the same time. Here is this summer's resume:

"Transformation 08, Icons and Imagery", the SAQA show, headed off to Birmingham England and then to South Africa, then on to Coos Bay OR.  I imagine it will travel to  a few other places too.

"I-4 Corridor; Stretching Threads Across Florida" sent to the Comma Gallery in Orlando for the summer  (located at 813 Virginia Drive).

"Paste-Up 2008" at the Ayers Lofts Gallery in Lowell.  The opening is on June 14th between 6 and 8 but I am not available so will be gallery sitting there on Sunday June 15th if you're in the neighborhood.

"Dirty Smelly Noisy", 5 collages and a quilt that fit the perimeters of the show which is it's title, at the Western Ave Studios, also in Lowell.  I know the opening for this one has got to be a real blow out, June 7th, 6 to 9.  And, oh yeah, it's a pot luck opening so bring your own hunk of cheese to share with me.  And the DJ.

Geesh, I am everywhere.

No specific plans for the long weekend other than work in the studio. We will go visit relatives at the beach on Monday, but it's not a big deal, just an Armenian hamburger~ thin, dry, and with big hunks of onion in them. I much prefer Wild Willies where the grease rolls down your arms and the jalapenos slide out the sides! And there is just a 5 minute drive! Looks like seafood is out because of the Red Tide this year. No clams until it's gone.
Here is Hazel at 3 months enjoying her Koi hat. She gets cuter every time I see her, but I may be a bit biased.

Dirty Smelly Noisy opening is June 7th . . . anyone who comes on the 6th will be at the opening in the Loading Dock Gallery for The Keys to Katahdin, work by Don Sullivan and John Cascio . . . a very different scene!
