Aren't these the most amazing creatures? Of course I want to knit slippers that look just like this. For ME, size 8, thankyew very much. Look at their tails- they ARE Kaffe's chard fabric!
We had crit group last night and I just want to toot a horn for a minute about an odd sort of friendship we have built up over 30 years. We don't really socialize much together except for our joint appearances at each other's openings and fiber events, so last night was fun. Sylvia baked a birthday cake for Nancy's long-ago 50th, Linda brought the Prosecco, and Barb provided the fresh local strawberries. We actually had a group picture taken for what we believe is the first time, which I will post here when it gets sent to me. All this frivolity took up a good chunk of the evening but we eventually got down to business. Next to my chair was a pile of stuff, a little of this and that and I think just about everybody left me an odd bit or piece.
Amazing huge Chinese silk knots that were a present 40 some years ago from Judy. Ummm, magenta! A challenge for sure!
Returned books I had forgotten about and 2 new ones to read. This is almost equally a crit group and book club! But my Joseph Cornell has returned and I didn't even know it was missing.
A hand cross stitched apron, shower gift from a long ago wedding, never worn, and ready to be chopped and channeled. I think they are all butterflies in grays, odd combo for sure.
I probably don't need another square inch of lace but who could turn down this batch? The torn pieces will make excellent prints and stencils, the others, well, who knows. It's hard to destroy the good chunks.
Fabrics I remember from Judy's early work.
Oddities and MORE TOILE! Yippee! Always room for more toile, it's like ice cream.
And the best-for-last, from Barb who walked the Plum Island beach and found this gem. It harkens right back to the use of doll parts I told you about in the Lopez Garcia exhibit at the MFA- I was soooo jealous. It's other-worldly how things just find me when I need them most. But the best part is this is the back view- is this not cool?
I showed the progress of the Australian Pines mini-piece and it seems I successfully saved it with all the hand embroidery, thanksgod... Just a little bit more to do and it will be declared DONE. Then of course the last-ditch-forever-done-jpg issues.
Here is what I showed them also, finished up this week:

Here is the little knitted purse I had to make to use up these very cool handles I had been hoarding. I also cannabalized a pair of slippers for the dingle-ball crocheted flower for the front. Loved working with this fine Schaeffer cotton, it simply slid through the damn #2 needles making short work of the project- well as short as any project could be on #2s. I am thinking this is an etsy candidate as is this necklace too:
And this is my latest necklace of 'found' objects, in this case, quail eggs and more ping pong balls along with all the black and brown beads from one drawer that would fit over the biggest needle I have (I think it is supposed to be for trussing a turkey).
Broken quail eggs from last winter.
And that was sure one image-filled post.
Today I send off the quilt to San Diego for approval from a guy who saw it on the internet and contacted me. If he 'approves', then I will have to amend my whole spiel on internet sales of art. We'll see! Fingers crossed here. i gave him a big discount and took off all the long white dog hairs so it looks great. And I am letting it speak for itself. What else can one do??? Lettuce prey.
