Back in Bizniz, sorta

I have been stuck at the studio all friggin day waiting for Comcast. I haven't had any internet here and that impedes me wasting time (!) and reading blogs and sending off the statement about my ahhhhht. Seems that sometime last week Sir Comcast himself decided to DISCONNECT my service so they climbed up on the roof with their work order and cut the lines to #1100. And yes, my bill was fully paid.

I spent two full days removing and reinstalling Airport, messing with settings, starting and restarting setting and resetting modems and ports and all. Had to move the whole computer to the other side of the room to check for a direct connection to no avail, but the guy waltzes in and says yup, no connection. Duh. Seems that every building here, all five of them, has an #1100 in it so probably they cut the wrong building's service.

But I learned a lesson:
SOMETIMES IT JUST ISN"T ALL MY FAULT.
But what the hell, I got two canvasses stretched and underpainted, upgraded Skype so I could make some calls again, got the bathooom shelves neatened up, got a pile of quilts moved from one rack to another to *make* *more**room*. Yes. I said it: I am out of room.

And a shout-out to Mary Beth for her excellent suggestion to stop being mad at UPS for their idiot spawn here in the Jupiter store: they 'couldn't make a box' for me, they 'couldn't issue a return label' for the quilts I sent up to Schweinfurth, they 'couldn't give me insurance to cover any costs other than replacement', and (get this!) 'couldn' return it to my own address- it has to come back to the UPS office'!!!. Anyway, Mary Beth told me to open a FedEx account online which took exactly seven seconds. I went to the FedEx store and checked them out and they gave me a return label, no questions, and will bill it to my card and deliver it to my house. Easy Peasy. Thank you bunches, Mary Beth. Wish you could have been here for the Comcast Conquest too. I would have ordered a pizza while we waited for The Guy!

But now, all happiness aside for yet another problem vanquished, I have to call home and have TY come fetch me. We are again a one car family, especially in the rain. The Cobra doesn't go out in the rain. God, you'd think it had naturally curly hair. (wink)

lol thanks for the shout out! I gotta say I'm a huge fedex fan. They're the only outfit that reliably scan the boxes at each step of the way so you can actually see where things are and they're generally helpful on the phone too. I often start the shipping process at home, generate the label and bring my sealed, labelled box to work with me so I can have them pick it up (and usually return it to me there). All done right from the web-process. Doesn't really get any better than that.
