Bbbbbback in Bbbbboston

Brrrrrrrrrr. Of course it wasn't too pleasant getting up in Florida the morning and having the temperature in the 20's, but at last I know the sun will come out and will warm me up in the center of the day. Bbbbbboston is just damn cold and gray and it was dark here- pitch ravin' dark at 4:15. Yup, I am a Florider now. Killing some time before we hit the first family party this evening. I am wearing my TJMaxx fabulous find shoes- gray suede with reverse applique circles all over them. The problem is that they have heels so I have brought along a second pair of shoes secretly hidden in my bag (with SOCKS) for the ride home.

But to get down to bizniz here, the Christmas Scary Creepy Santa:

This is a real vending machine for Christmas chatzkes. Yup, you guessed it, a Japanese invention. Let's hope that it doesn't get a visa.

Ringo & Elwood, the cutest mittens ever! This is Ringo, Elwood is a beaver and equally adorable. Barbara Gregory over at Twist Collective

New little octopus variety discovered by National Geographic Society off Canada's Atlantic coast.

Perfect Christmas present- slingshots. Designer slingshots. Signed and numbered limited edition of 30 slingshots by Christopher Jarratt. Each slingshot is made from a found tree branch in Epping Forest, England.

Next, 'Never Judge', a show now up at the Stolen Space Gallery

The broad and varied spectrum of artists were inviting to paint, print, etch, sculpt, photograph, whatever their medium, whatever their style... create a book cover for a novel of their choice, a book that has inspired them, a book that has had a profound impact on them or a book that they remember fondly as a child ... all that we asked was that they create their original artwork to the traditional format and size of a Penguin book 198mm (h) x 129mm (w)

Filthy Luker and his team created a mechanical version of Jules Vernes ‘20,000 Leagues Under The Sea’: OMG. For more good closeups, go here:

Then, more books, over on the Joanne Mattera blog, she is reviewing what she saw at Art Basel Miami and came across the Charlie James Gallery from Los Angeles. In her New Publications Series, which consists of 52 archival pigment prints, Daniella Comani has taken classic titles and flipped the genders. Here is the whole installation:
Here are two examples:

Kind of a cheeky offering over at Jonathan Adler. Hope someone gives me this.

Headless legless ladies- FABULOUS! See them all at Kelly Reemstem's blog.

Okey Dokey. I'm off to a celebratory dinner, then home to sleep. Busy day tomorrow getting all the loose ends tied up. I'm letting the dentist slide- everything seems to be back in place right now. Fingers crossed.
