De Dog ees Done

YES FOLKS, THE DOG IS DONE, Long Live the Dog. Here are my friends Annie and Peg working on theirs, Roly, in my studio. As he progresses I'll post more pictures. he sort of looks like he's wearing a wet suit here but things will improve.
Before I continue, I must tell you what the Horror-Scope says today, now pay attention:
It's difficult to admit when your plan isn't working, yet your pride can stand between you and success now. Someone has entered your life and is eager to guide you along on your path. But it's impossible for anyone to make a meaningful connection with you if you appear too self-sufficient. You may feel uncomfortable sharing your vulnerabilities, but it could be the smartest thing you can do today.
Here was poor Lacey suffering an indignity the other day as I finished up glueing layer one on her belly. It was at this point I was getting scared- it was looking more like a demented bride-dog than I had envisioned, and in combination with the other dog in his black suit, I was starting to gag, but I perservered with my buff and gold paints:
And here is her official Portrait, wearing her collar made from crocheted edging from pillowcases my grandmother made.
Portrait of Lacey

A deail of her shoulder and all the snips of antique lace and some tatting we stuck on her. With these odd pieces I really feel we are giving new life to a lot of women's hand work. Imagine someone using bits that once belonged to you in a hundred years! I really have to give a big hand to Laurie who was an immence help with the whole thing, and she works for free (!) I owe her big time. And I tried real hard to let her guide me along my path!

See why I read the damn horoscope all the time?

So I'm feeling pretty perky that she is done and looks OK, I get home and am surfing the blogs I've neglected lately and find THIS, lace overload:
I'd say my grandmother crocheted this too but she never was in Russia, and it would be a lie.
Russian lizard wearing clothes.
Lions (ummm, LEO?) in black lace!
YES- a lace covered dog (and rug and human). Makes Lacey look positively dowdy, next time I WILL cover a lizard instead. Watch this space.
