Fixated on Fantasy

Yeah, that's what the Horror-Scope for today warned me about. Fantasy. HA! That is so far out of my realm. Think unicorns silouteted against a firey sky... think robots on a moonscape... think vampires skulking about...

And then picture ME leaning over a sink of dirty dishes. My fantasy is small, easy, but as unobtainable as the above mentioned- all I want is someone to stand up and do the dishes.

Busy weekend behind me, but we had fun seeing old friends from Boston one night and going to dinner at new friends another night for (OMG) osso bucco (!!!). Then yesterday we had an unexpected Chinese banquet at about 2 in the afternoon with TY's pals. I ate way too much and my hands are very fat today, unable to make a fist. And one never knows when I may NEED a fist. Last night I made a huge caldron of cajun bean soup so that is it for the week. I sure wish one could make smaller quantities of things like that. Note to self: buy Beano today!

Found a picture of my original computer circa late 80's, and I can remember my $400 bill from AOL for the first month! I don't remember it even having color but perhaps I am thinking of the predecessor which wasn't even really a computer. I quickly learned how to download mail after that, and shortly after found cheaper internet too. I joined an online quilting group- I think there were about 30 of us and one of them was Judy Smith who started the QuiltArt group shortly after that. That was wonderful because it was more specialized and we could share places to show work and techniques beyond cutting traditional squares. It evolved into several online shows that were fun to be part of, and as a perk we all got sets of the slides of the contributors. I just found them and have them hanging in my studio door now- fun to re-visit these shows.

OK, about 10 computers later, with one unfortunate sidetrack into a PC so it would be compatible with TY's office, and a quick detour back to Macs, now I am functioning with (count 'em) four working computers and can't give up a single one! I heard about a program for internet addiction the other day but know that's not for me- it's not like I am chatting with potential dates or gaming or anything nefarious. I spend lots of time editing photos, printing them out to work with, and reading my yahoo groups that are work related. Then there's this time sucker blog. But it's my journal, and fun to read back in to see what I was doing back when I started keeping it. I really need to abandon the website because I am just not interested in that anymore, but I will keep it going a bit longer just in case I change horses in my stream again.
(not really me)
And with that I am leaving to get to my knitting group. I am NEEDED there today because a friend called me last night with a knitting emergency (?) and I am hoping to help her out. So there I go.
