Death of the Monsterii

As you can see the poor thing is suffering greatly in it's leaf department. They are turning yellow and curling themselves up. This is so hard to watch because the plant has been beautiful for three years, but the death knoll has been struck. The stalk still has a band of flowers loaded with bees but the most part is withered. I was hoping we could get to the nursery and find a replacement but this thing is sort of like that beached whale that washes up on your beach, What to do, what to do... I doubt that the trash guys will take a 25' stalk covered in bees. And the leaves are like sabers, have pointy edges that really scratch deeply.

Oh well. Life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone...

Today is my 38th anniversary, and they doubted it would last. HA! We showed them, now it's too late to back out so we are going to dinner where I am going to drink champagne for a change. TY has given up alcohol for lent but I'm not letting that stop me. I'll get his share too.

Tomorrow morning I start a three day workshop in encaustics so I'll be out of here first thing. The car is packed (wow, there is sure a lot of stuff!) and I am ready to roll. I'll see you Monday. I've been very disappointed in all of you that you didn't comment on the tangerine painting, I thought you'd all like it.

Sorry
! I loved it so much, I posted it on my FB page. It was very cool. My painting friends were trying to figure out how many paintings it took to get the effect.

all this flowering and pollinating..doesn't it mean plant sex and fertilized seeds someplace..some potential replacements somewhere...? Inside the flower? under the dirt? How do they propagate?
