Yes, I AM doing something.

Looks like Jane Dunnewald has had a nuclear meltdown of her own over in her Existential Neighborhood. Too bad, I enjoyed her posts and certainly hope she comes back someday.

Meanwhile over here in my own existential mind dump, I am watching my Octopus every day get changed- now it's having thikngs done TO it by the bees.
I shook the stalk to activate the bees but they all flew away for a few minutes except these two greedy guys.
Eash of the little starflowers along the stalk has five huge long stamens- you can see here how they pollen is all gone on the closer (older) stamens, and the little star flowers have withered up. This is moving up the stalk in bands as the bees eat their fill. It's all quite amazing, at least as good as watching baby birds with a camera in their nest! I'm just considering it this season's entertainment.

Meanwhile back at Ganymede Studios, LLC- I FINISHED A QUILT! Yahoo. This is the bridge quilt I worked on in the fall but hit the wall on it. It needed something else and I just couldn't face it for a few months. Then there was that call for entries for the Allentown Museum show that people were upset about because of the size limitations and I thought maybe this would work, *knowing* it is 48" square which is perfect. So I futzed around and messed with it and cajoled it back under the needle, wrestled it to the finish. A few days ago I backed it and then yesterday I sat myself down and put on the binding which I hate to do. I even finished off the sleeve and got it on the wall for blocking. Perfectly square, and I think I solved it, or at least did something to finish it. I was so happy. Then, in pinning it for blocking, I got out the measuring tape to make sure it was squared up. Yup, it's 53" square. (Update, it's really not even square!) So much for KNOWING anything. So, there ya go. Allentown will live on without it gracing it's walls, and the quilt will live on stuck to my wall until there is a reason to pull it down! And on to the next. Geesh.

Now, I've got 6 people coming for dinner and unless I feed them wilted lettuce and a furry tomato, I better get to the store.
