Studio Wipe-Down

Pat Pauly has made the announcement about the Rochester show HERE in this article. It's called 'Parallax View', where an object or concept is viewed with more than one perspective. There are some nice pictures of some of the participants work included.

OMG, I have a wax crust build-up about 2" deep all over everything. I ripped up the protective freezer paper and have to replace it today if I have enough. It did a good job of protecting the table top, but I realy need the table for other things right now and the wax stalagtites stop things from sliding and goo up my scissors. New paper is in order. Think I will order a roll of heavy kraft paper- if I don't use it for the table tops and wrapping stuff to ship, I can always make a slipcover for the roof... or go into taxidermy... or have Christmas wrapping (with potato prints and a touch of raffia!) into infinity.
While I am ordering stuff, I must get ahold of more of that wax we used in the workshop because I really like it better than the beeswax/resin mix I've been using, not to mention it's a better buy- a real consideration with the amount of wax I go through. The company only sells minimums of 80# so that should hold me another season (or two). I'll tell you, I will never make the mix myself again, that resin is hideous to work with and took forever to melt enough to mix. OK, enough waxy whining. I am anxious to get back at it after my hiatus. Just wish I had an outlet for all the stuff I am producing.

Yesterday I got my second project all ready to mail out. I gathered all the necessary info, the steps, the story, the bio, the (UGH) photo of me and I made a CD and brought it home to test and make sure it works correctly, so today I slam it into the tube and off it goes. Sure hope it's what they are looking for- I have a history of disappointing on these requests. Sigh. Oh well, too late now.

More than you care about squirrels: Right outside my window I have a squirrel staring at me. He flopped his tummy onto a big branch and is sort of hanging there with all four limbs drooping down and his head resting to one side. When I wave at him (he's not more than 5' away), his ears perk up a bit but he is definitely taking a squirrel-size break and is zoning out. He? How do I know? Because he races around the sea grape tree and I get full view of him from the bottom. Squirrels in Florida are different from squirels in Massachusetts. For one thing they are smaller and lots slimmer, probably because they have no need to store food for the winter with the year round abundance here. I also don't see quite as daring feats of athleticism but that is perhaps due to the leaves on the trees all the time.

In MA, the bare branches make their antics more visible and those guys can fly! Here they seem more to scurry around tree trunks near the ground taunting Molly on our walks. Instead, she is forced to hone her hunting skills on a small herd of Havanese in her illegal dog park. They are about as fast as the squirrels but Molly has endurance and bowls 'em over like candlepins.
