It was accidental, but I ended up tonight watching the 1975 'Grey Gardens' documentary- what a mistake! Somehow, when I catch the 'Hoarders', I can be angry at the people with the problem and for letting it get away from them. I sympathize with the families, and really want the suffering people to get help that actually works. But I had a hard time mustering sympathy for someone who dumps a loaf of bread and a box of cat food into their attic to feet the raccoons. Sort of the OMG' moment that made me give up on them.
So, flipping around what do I come up with but a lady who eats 40 ice cream bars a day while suffering from diabetes, and that segues into young guy who only eats french fries- he is scared of cheese. Sort of puts my little food (and viewing!) problems into clearer perspective. And I turned the television off, wrote this embarrassing blog, and am headed back to my book!
And sorry about the lack of quilt progress- I took the day off from it today to do paperwork, play with the lonely dog, and hit Whole Foods for some new supplies, but it's on the schedule for tomorrow, with a photo. You will be underwhelmed, trust me.

I check in on Hoarders if my eyes are open when it's on...it's like driving by a car wreck- you can't help but look. What I (and every other watcher I suspect) am waiting for is for one of the so-called professionals to slam their head with the heel of their hand and ask the Hoarder "WHAT THE F#$K???" and DEMAND an explanation. and maybe slap the crap out of them too.
Uh - this is why I never watch tv.
