The weather is beautiful and not at all conducive to packing up to go back north, but I am stumbling through trying to anticipate what I might need on the three trips I've got going this summer. I've got some clothes narrowed down to one smallish plastic bin and that even includes some shoes, so I think I am set, at least until I try to put things together to go in a suitcase and discover I have nothing I need for each trip. Sigh. Molly got her shots this morning so we can get her boarded, and her packing ain't too bad- a leash and a bowl and she's good to go. Now comes the hard part. I simply cannot stand three solid days in the car listening to stock reports and Fox news, and also cannot stand to have earphones on to listen to my own stuff. I am lobbying to fly and holding out the perk of him being able to drive all night without me whining. We'll see.
But back to the getting ready part. All of a sudden there is so much to do, so much we have put off, so much to take care of immediately so instead I went to the studio today to continue cutting squares and occasionally putting something away in an obvious place that I will never again think to search. This is one of the troubles of having a big studio- I can't find a thing because I have stashes stuff in places where I've moved other things away from and then I forget. I tried putting labels on the shelves and drawers but then I mo=ve stuff again and it's all mislabeled in no time. But I have now gotten the trash out, have consolidated the encaustic materials and can cover to keep the dust off the wax, and am eating all the sugar-free candy as fast as I can.
Today Laurie came over for our Thursday Revelries and we worked on her massive yoyo quilt that is quite spectacular though more work that any human can manage. We sewed on yo-yos for almost 2 hours and really made some progress so that project will be done in a few weeks. Then she helped me cut purple strips and pile them up. I think I am set for purples, have to cut greens for the next few days and have some sacks ready to keep them separated until sewn. I am maybe halfway done cutting and won't have any problem finishing if I can get to the studio every day until I leave. And that is only dependent on how long I can take this ice of my back in between!
I received my wee catalog from the Parallax show up in Rochester which opens tomorrow. Pat also sent along some pictures of the gallery all set up and it looks spectacular, a nice open space with plenty of room around each piece for a change. Just about everybody in her show is also in the latest QN show, pretty good company there in spite of my piece sticking out like a sore thumb. Oh well, maybe somebody will come along and like it because it isn't abstracted. Well, it COULD happen... Oh, stop laughing.
Guess I better get back to busy-ness and finish up a project or two.
