Adjustment Go On

The Horror:
Your job can help to take your mind off a recent conflict in your personal life. However, it's crucial to concentrate all of your attention on your career objectives today in order to shift your thinking. Backing away from an intense argument won't solve the underlying issues, but it will give the energy a chance to settle back down so you can approach the unresolved predicament anew later on.

The Costume Suggestion of the Day:
Being an artist is hard, playing one on Halloween is easy.  First of all, find yourself a beret, or any floppy hat.  Next you need a smock but you can repurpose a big fat man's shirt worn backwards if you must.  Dirty shirts are best and look most authentic.  The large neck bow above is easy-  grab that ugly fake silk scarf your great aunt resifted to you and tie it up as floppy as possible. Next, you need art props:  take a picture off your wall and carry it around.  Grab a brush-  if you don't have an artists brush one of those silicone pastry brushes will do.  If you have an old briefcase so much the better.  Now, go grab all your leftover makeup that has gone bad, smear it on your shirt, under your fingernails, and rub a smudge here and there on your face.  Wear red Converse sneakers that are falling apart or at the very least, have no laces and are held on with rubber bands.  There ya go, you're an Artist.

Now a bit about another Artist-  Here's a challenge-  you want to be an artist for Halloween?  Paint yourself up as the PAINTING instead, an updated take on the ole artist theme:

Alexa Meade is an artist who thinks completely backwards! Most artists use acrylic paints to create portraits of people on canvas, while Alexa applied acrylic paints on her subjects, and made them appear to be part of a painting! Meade is an installation artist based in the Washington, DC area.

And, My Little Arty Bunnies,  going along with our 'Artists' theme today, I found a contest for you photo-nuts to enter!  This started as a 'Remake Contest' in a University in the UK but there is another current group on Facebook and they have a cool PRIZE of a complete Adobe Creative Suite.  Not too shabby.  The deal is you stage and photograph a famous piece of art, like this:
You can read the rules and SUBMIT HERE.

Along similar veins, Miranda July, one of my all-time favorite performance artists, has done a series of self-portraits dressing as extras in famous movie scenes.  Recognize this?

Probably not, but look carefully at this scene with Dustin Hoffman and you will see her:

And a pie warning-  it's pie time pie to pie go pie here:
