Latent Complementary Dalhousie

So I was poking around this morning on my usual route around the internets, sniffing my usual spots, and that always includes Terry Grant's  'And Sew It Goes'.  Today she is talking about being an introvert, and it catches my attention enough to go take a test on the NPR site and sure enough I am a full-fledged introvert, taking a perfect score on the test.  Yup, crowds make me nervous, I like one-on-one interactions, I cannot do small-talk, etc etc,  Turns out Terry is also a full fledged introvert and I absolutely understand her because she*is*me!  Well, except perhaps a nicer person...  The thing I really 'got' was that introverts are not necessarily shy, and that's what I was called through my whole childhood (see previous Ginny post!), they are just more inner-directed.  We prefer to work alone, we let the extroverts lead, and forget cocktail parties!  And I'm going to go read 'Quiet: the Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking' by Susan Cain.

And this, from Mark Twain:
Introverts Unite!  But maybe not in person...

More Introverts, not of the Human Persuasion:
Apparently the manatees are coming in close to shore around here to stay warm-  this in in Juno, just down the street .  Check the huge scar on his back, probably caused by a boat propeller, their arch-enemies.

So, today, while I am car-less and stuck at home temporarily, I guess I am going to remove my Christmas decoration that remain, since it's February now!  Everything else is long ago put away but I have a giant disco ball I stick in my front hallway with it's smaller friend, a reflective glass ball, here:

I just love how the early morning sun hits it and sends little blotches of sunlight all through the living room and hall, and so does someone else:

Oh heck, what's a few more days?  It' isn't like they are Santa Clauses or something...  In fact they are now going to officially be designated as my Winter Decorations-  maybe until March.

And with that my car has miraculously returned, my chariot to the Introspective Introverted Studio!  May your day also have little flickers of light all through it.

You and I do have things in common. I formed the first Indep group at my uni. then abandoned it as it was turning into a sorority. I think Groucho said that any club that would accept him, he wouldn't want to belong to.

I also took the npr test after reading Terry's blog yesterday...90% introvert...the idea that introvert does not necessarily equate to shy was confounding. But it sure explained a lot about me.

Thanks for supplying the interesting post.

that twain quote was worth the price of admission and as a reward, I'm giving you permission to keep Christmas in your heart year round and the shiny balls in your hallway year round too!
