"I might work on a painting for a month, but it has to look like I painted it in a minute." - Willem de Kooning
Erin Endicott- hand stitching: Erin woks with found vintage linens and embroiders over them a history of her own making. Beautiful work- make sure and watch her video below.
The work of Chilean artist Jose Romussi…Embroidery, and sewing machine on photographs, from a series titled String Figures.
Actually looks like more hand stitching but in fact it's storyteller Beatrice Caron's cut paper. Her work is about letting the viewer construct their own interpretation of her scenes. After a series of odd jobs and an art degree from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Lyon, she moved to New York in 1985. Her body of work ranges from intricate cutouts to public works and screen prints. Currently her cutouts are a part of “The Art of Storytelling” exhibition at the American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. She is giving a class in Bennington this summer.
“This work is about finding the beauty in things that perhaps one might over-look” … All of these plate clusters are from a series, titled Altered Perspectives, by Little Owl Design – aka Bruce Wayland and Marcello de Simone. They are collaborating artists from the Netherlands with “interests are in Art History, Fine Arts, Fashion, Design, Culinary World, Horticulture & Travel.” They are basic vintage plate designs overlaid with pieces of found oil paintings. So cool...
And the last little bunny for awhile-
Have a HAppy April Fool's Day.
