drench element babbage

God invented the giraffe, the elephant, the cat. He has no real style. He just goes on trying things.  Pablo Picasso

NeuroKnitting is a a collaboration between artists varvara guljajeva, mar canet and MTG researcher sebastian mealla using the Knitic framework, an open hardware knitting machine that translates brainwaves into actual garments. Users listen to music while wearing an EEG headset and the system records their brain state. The knitting machine measures signals from relaxation, excitement, and cognitive load responses and converts the wave-lengths into patterned textiles.

Sticks and stones can break my bones...

Melbourne based artist Sonia Rentsch 's Plant Guns, all made from vegetation.

   These gorgeous, and very clever, portraits are the work of New York based artist Nathan Manire. When you see them from far away {go on, get up from your computer and take about 10 steps back} they suddenly have shading, depth and detail… but up close they are just a bunch of lovely, washy dots. Just dots {that I completely love on their own too!}

Venice Biennale:  in 1993, while browsing in a junk shop, artist oliver croy discovered 387 model buildings, each neatly wrapped in its own garbage bag--the architectural creations of austrian insurance clerk peter fritz. there is little known about the life of fritz, he nevertheless left behind a substantial body of work that stands as an intriguing testament to his imagination and passion.
20 years after the discovery of these miniatures, artist oliver croy and architecture critic oliver elser offer a look at these lost constructions in a curated installation entitled 'the 387 houses of peter fritz'.

And as a Practical Thing, here's a little chart that may come in handy.  i have a whole drawer full of glues and I guess it's time to check which ones are still OK to use and which ones have dried up to a hard chunk of goo!
And now I'm off to have a weekend, hopefully uneventful, and hopefully including a pizza somebody else goes to fetch!
