bethesda numerable idempotent (or the seventeen hundred and oneth post)

sure wish I had mine back from repair

The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their
  simplicity might suggest.     Thomas Moore

I know you're getting tired of this 'report' but I am still knitting!  I have 3 unfinished squares and two whole squares to whip out, then 4 little triangles to form the points around the edges.  I see the light at the end of the tunnel, AND I think I can make it before I run out of yarn completely.  Good news here with that.
Another gorgeous day here in FlaFla land, probably in the mid 80's today with a lovely breeze and lots of sun.  I got a report yesterday that it was 97 in Boston.  What is the question again?  Oh yeah, WHY are you still in Florida, Sandy-  isn't it hot?  heh heh.  Florida summers are a well kept secret, don't say you heard it from me.  The only real drawback is I can't leave anything in the car, like dogs, or they would cook in about six minutes flat.  I do have to say that the white interior on my car sure is an upgrade from the last one that was black, and the smaller size gets the AC to work very quickly, but still, no doggies allowed, they get hot-foots.
It's been nice having TY here for this week, we have gone out for dinner every night so I am not cooking-  I am a happy camper with that for a change.  I have always loved cooking, but it sure takes the fun out when it's just for 2.  It pretty much eliminates any large chunks of meat or anything that generates leftovers.  And veggies go black before I get a chance at them because I am still buying for a family.  Good thing I like cole slaw as I make it with anything that is still stiff enough to slice.  Even the dogs are bored with dinner.  Oh well.  Maybe I will start being one of those singles eating at the bar so I can get out more. You know the ones, sitting there with their phone in hand willing it to ring so they have something to do...

Which leads me into (TAH DAH), todays Henry Miller Rule:

 7.  Keep human!  See people, go places, drink if you feel like it.  And that means I'll have a glass of pinot noir at the bar while I wait for my food and the phone to ring!  And I'll wear fancy shoes because things are always better when you've got on your fancy shoes, right?

(Make sure you have a good chunk of time before you go visit Mark's site.)

Oakland-based artist Jeremy Mayer has an impressive knack for recycling typewriters into marvelous anatomical sculptures. Perhaps best known for his full-scale, anatomically correct human figures, he also dabbles in deer, damselflies and, in one of his more recent projects, birds. As with all of Mayer's projects, these swallows were not soldered, welded or glued together in any way – his process is "entirely cold assembly," as he explains on his website. "I do not introduce any part to the assemblage that did not come from a typewriter."

This thing is 2 feet long!
Will cure what ails you for sure.
Better Living Thru Chemistry is a limited edition sculpture series consisting of over-sized glass and mixed media capsule-shaped objects emblazoned with text messages, abbreviations, acronyms and slang. A snarky commentary on our over-medicated society, Edie Nadelhaft was inspired in equal parts by the ubiquitous presence of social media in contemporary culture and the simultaneous rise of direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical marketing.

I came back to look all this over again. I would have liked to see the creator of the "sampler" in action making that. I need the big pills. I miss my old blue typewriter from college... where did it go? And I prayed like hell that this was the post with the caffeinated squirrel at the end (shhhh that's half my co-workers but don't tell anyone)

I shouldn't have used that sampler without attribution but the site I got it from had no links. I
ll send it thru Google and see what surfaces. Sure would be cool if there was a video of it being made- perhaps speeded up! S
