Happy Fourth
The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem. Theodore Rubin
LATER: I whined to the Powers That Be Feedly and they told me what to do, I did it and it worked. My Feeds are back, Long Live My Feeds.
Sorry I gave you the finger, Feedly.
I did manage to find this rough draft of the Declaration of Independence- Happy Fourth of July! If the weather holds we are going to a BBQ, then off to the local stadium to watch a baseball game between two farm teams, followed by a fireworks display. How's that for an ICONIC Fourth? (It kinda makes up for spending last evening with a bunch of Canadians still celebrating Canada Day!)
Jasper John's 1970 flags, and another flag:
In 2005, MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) presented a monumental and uniquely American sculptural installation by Dave Cole. Cole’s project The Knitting Machine comprised two excavators specially fitted with massive 20′ knitting needles which produced an oversized American flag, which can be seen as both a celebratory gesture of pride and a commentary on America’s role in world affairs."
Today at Mass MoCA, some very cool, and extremely large, CHICKENS.
Oh sorry, they are PHOENIX. Whatevah, they are made with accumulated 'stuff'.
Inspired by the contemporary realities of his fast-changing country, Chinese artist Xu Bing spent two years creating his newest work titled "Phoenix". The installation currently on exhibit at MassMoCA features two massive birds fabricated entirely from materials harvested from construction sites in urban China, including demolition debris, steel beams, tools, and remnants of the daily lives of migrant laborers.

Today I am going to go see if a yarn shop near here is open, though I doubt it. Still on the quest for fingering purple, just One More Skein! And I hope to at the very least unload my car at the studio with all my purchases yesterday. There were some good sales and I (shoot me now) stocked up at the art store. Somehow I ended up with a back seat full of stuff and I need to go through it to separate out the things I got for the house. Called first, it's not open. Tomorrow is another day
I lost my list of stuff to post but this was in a different place and feedly hasn't found it yet to screw with- I got this ad from Blurb with three costume books for sale- one of them I thought was great and am going to put in an order. Here:
