Seventeen Hundred and Fifty Posts

Couldja just die?  Two hundred and fifty more posts and I can retire semi-joyfully
to growing bonsai or grooming dogs or making cake pops.
If artists have to write an artist statement then writers
should be required to do a little painting to explain their writing.  unknown

In the painting series “Atlas,” Spanish artist Fernando Vicente uses maps as canvases for his incredible illustration work. The illustrations—of people and animals—follow the contours of geographic features on the maps.

You can tell when ever I enlarge things to go off my page that I am very impressed by them!  The sculpture of Ron Isaacs is difficult to explain.  Even when standing right in front of an Isaacs’s sculpture, the viewer cannot believe their eyes.  “What do you mean that is not cloth?  How can that be carved wood and still look like a beautiful garment coming to life?”  The answer is in the highly unusual and specialized technique that Isaacs employs to turn birch plywood into “architectural garments” full of movement. Combining  trompe l’oeil painting with master wood carving, the sculptures appear ready to move in a gentle breeze as they morph into natural elements.
More, Please?

You DID see that these are painted wood, didn't you?  Unbelievable.  On that green polka dot dress, look how the leaves morph into growing from the print-  genius!  I love these pieces, but I suppose you already knew that.

Hey Bunnies,  I found a NEW LIST of Creativity Steps!  Join me in step 1 today, with a bunch to follow every day until I forget to post the next one.
In the early 1990’s Steven Covey wrote a book entitled “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” which became a huge best seller and still sells well today. It was a book that provided a holistic and a principled approach for problem solving, living and adapting to change by seeing opportunities rather than problems.
I believe that there are also seven habits which artists should follow to become highly effective and successful. And, though I am detailing only seven, I am sure that the readers of this article can contribute other successful “habits” as well.
The seven habits of highly effective and successful artists are:
1. Being passionate about your art
Foremost, the artist must have a passion for their art and everything that is associated with being an artist. Why? Because there will always be barriers to being an artist. . . but, if you are passionate about what you do, these issues will be perceived as challenges or detours to success, rather than “problems” that halt your progress.

Remember Lacey McCurtain, the lace covered dog?  Well, she is long gone and the local animal shelter profited greatly from her sale.(I hear she lives in Michigan now but have no idea how she got there). I found a companion piece for you lace-lovers:

A chair for Lacey!
very 'grandma', isn't it?  I think I would finish it off and turn all those loose edges and tack them down so it looks 'upholstered', not just 'let's-hide-the-dirt'.

is by "anonymous" I may have to stake claim to it myself. I may even start it out there on my blog so it gets googled and then I can tell people to look it up. Because you know, if you can google it the interweb says it's so...
