Arrived in Boston and I'm freezing my toes (and other parts) off.  As usual, I got here to problems, always a surprise what I'll find-  this trip was a broken toilet and no internet, so I've spent the afternoon trying to get it all up and working again- so frustrating, and thankless, and unnecessary!  We had 6" of rain last night in Florida, I wasn't sure I'd even get out but fortunately all I got of it was a bumpy rid up the coast.  Lisa came and fetched me and we went to a good sale at our favorite shop, then back to find the new restaurant I had heard about that just opened.  The map had it in the wrong place, just over the Turnpike and a short walk, but it was way down the street from that and I'm glad we drove.  Fun place, try out-  'Cook' on Washington St.  We ate at the bar and I had a Sazarac that I'm still coming down from.  I'll be back, for sure.

You have to get pretty close to Karla Mialynne’s work before you realize it isn’t real. To create her illustrations – which mostly feature animals like pugs and owls – she uses Prismacolor pencils, Pantone Tria markers and occasionally, acrylic paint. After each piece is complete, she photographs it with the array of tools she used to create it. How interesting to see all the colors involved!

Nadia Myre, Indian Act speaks of the realities of colonization - the effects of contact, and its often-broken and untranslated contracts. The piece consists of all 56 pages of the Canadian Federal Government’s Indian Act mounted on stroud cloth and sewn over with red and white glass beads. Each word is replaced with white beads sewn into the document; the red beads replace the negative space.  The project took years, and was completed with the help of native people, mostly women.  Painstaking work.

Hmmm, I've knit about every substance I one across but haven't yet gotten to udon!

Ahh, but my dear Anonymous, I arrived THURSDAY! I needed two extra blankets at night! You're right, by Saturday it was much warmer but raining all afternoon just as I was trying to run my errands! It was really nice not to battle wind too.
