BEACON HILL HOTEL & BISTRO
Hoo Haa, today is my birthday and TY gave me a TomTom ! All I have to do is go buy it, so I will be out there first thing in the morning, you betcha. We learned about it from Nate, who's company is doing the US advertising for it- he got to take turns with all the other folks at Boathouse so they could find their way home (!). It will come in handy on the trips back and forth to Florida, especially when we want to get off I-95 and look for a real restaurant or doggy motel.
He took me to the Beacon Hill Hotel for breakfast this morning, a favorite place (see link above). I really do prefer breakfast to brunch anyway. And he was smart- walking along Newbury St at 8:30 Sunday morning is certainly not prime retail time so he saved a lot of money. I was a little taken aback by the other people there- people in running shorts and tee shirts, middle aged men in baseball caps inside- they should know better. It was the kind of stuff you'd expect at a roadside diner on their way to a baseball game. Oh well.
Nate called and we are finally going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tomorrow night- we have to go together because it was the first movie I ever took him to back when he was two. He loved it and I have a permanently etched picture of him standing in the aisle at the Wellesley Playhouse in his Osh'kosh pants absolutely transfixed by the big screen. And he still is to this day.
Mandy sent a big bouquet of Amaryllis that looked spectacular on Day 1 before they opened out, but today are looking like I put them in the vase upside down. I know they were tres expensive (she bought them because they were advertised as organic too- oy) but they are *not* looking good. Don't know whether to tell her or not. Last year her present to me never arrived (See August 2004 for that rant.)
And the Final Festivity is that Jake is coming over to meet Molly this afternoon with his parents. He is a black Havanese, bred to herd chickens, so we are hoping to get beyond that and watch them play. Molly still looks like hell from her bad haircut, so embarrassing. And I think we will order out pizza or Chinese since I resolutely refuse to cook.
Tonight the Stones are opening at Fenway- stay out of Kenmore Square.
So, I have a few hours before the dog arrives and I will sew until then.
