I am off on a field trip today to The Rose Art Museum. Frankly I am not even sure what the show is, but I am going with Linda and Sylvia so I betcha it is well researched. We're meeting before the show in Waltham at The Elephant Walk so I am looking forward to a Cambodian/French lunch. Report to follow.
I drove over to pick up Sylvia after my session at Bulges. I am putting the last raffle quilt together for her and have to do it immediately if not sooner and needed to pick it up. Then off we headed for the Elephant Walk, formerly Carambola. I haven't been there for years and the food was EXCELLENT though the iced tea wasn't forthcoming. I only wish it wasn't such a hike for a quick lunch. Then we headed for the Rose and I was reminded why I hate campus galleries! There is NO parking unless one walks a mile, you have to get a hang tag and then march it back to the car, then return again to the gallery. What an inefficient system. But about the work- I was particularly impressed with the collages by Fred Tomaselli which were encased in thick resin so had depth and interest beyond the actual subject matter. In face there were all sorts of pills buried in the resin along with photo scraps and leaves. I didn't quite understand the juxtaposition, but oh well.
Here's the little quilt for Kat and Craig's new baby. I got it mailed out yesterday so it's off my mind with all the other things going on.

Tomorrow night I have Nate coming for dinner so he can pick up his Red Sox tickets for Sunday. It's the YANKEES, and the last game of the season! The seats aren't all that great but for this game they are getting $1200 a seat now. He should shut up and be grateful, right? And he should also ask Emily. Harumph.
Other news, last night I told TY that I wasn't really interested in going to Tokyo in November. All I can envision is 'Lost in Translation'[ with me being too old to even go talk to guys in the bar when I get lonely! So I thought I better let him know. Well, today he talked to Bikram and has decided that maybe he won't sign on the dotted line for this. I am glad, I want to get the hell out of Dodge and down to Florida before the holidays start up and I have to come up with excuses to not see anyone. I feel bad about abandoning Nate but with his trip to Australia coming up he'll be fine. I will tell him to come for Christmas, but know he won't- who the hell wants to lie on a lounge chair on Christmas Day with the palms blowing in the breezes and the Red Stripe at hand...
SO, tomorrow I start on this quilt assembly, I play with the Mollster, I cook for the Natester, re-do my entire slide lecture, locate all my missing slides, and that's about it! Put that in your hat Mr. Pasquale Pate.
