Self Esteem d'Oeuvre Fletch

PENGUINS!

Went with Lisa last night, then on to Bloomies where I found a jacket to go with the pants I bought a few weeks ago, on second markdown, thankyew. Rust color, cotton/silk blend, buttons to the neck and doesn't have those pesky sleeve buttons so it is easy to shorten. Hmmm, maybe I identified with those penguins because they too have short arms that keep then from a modeling career...

Poundy's take on the movie which is much funnier than I could come up with. It will make a great 1/2 hour Discovery Channel special, but 84 minutes plus those hideous previews for movies that aren't due until Fall 2006 (!) are taking too much of my time that could be spent buying more jackets!

Food Site of the Day: minimiam (Get it, huh? More French Photographers, first the penguins, then the cupcakes!

I just got back from an art field trip to see the Ansel Adams exhibit at the MFA. I was, as a friend says, "whelmed". It was a good show, nicely hung, but maybe too much of too many similar things. Personally I found his later work more compelling than his mountains and vistas of the 30's- he became more abstracted and more gestural, finding complete compositions in a reed floating on the water, things like that.

LARRY, DARYL, AND DARYL, 13" square, vintage redwork, paint, and toile fabrics. This isn't done yet, it needs a reddish border and maybe some stitchery but I am liking the little piggies so much! It was going to be a newly discovered part of the GOATS, GRAPES, and GEESE series but I couldn't bring myself to cut more toile strips just because I found another "G" thing in my huge pile of redwork. Instead I found dogs in each toile, and one lone Guinea Pig (which is probably more likely a rabbit with extraordinarily tiny ears.). But odd numbers are better anyway, right? Here are the details of the toile dogs:

Here is Daryl on the wheel and the other brother Daryl ruminating on the left with the boxer licking the tiny critter. Larry is in the right detail with his carrot. Larry is named after my step grand Guinea Pig, a cutie that squeaks when squeezed. I am prretty much down to no more red toiles.

And finally, before I head out the door to the neighborhood bistro, Where Everybody Knows My Name, another link to keep handy because you never know...

Ian's Shoelace Site - Shoe Lacing Methods

Makes you want to go get some oxfords, doesn't it?
