Just because you think i am not doing anything. Here is the back to the baby cashmere (made of baby goats hair, not made FOR babies) sweater and I am almost done with the sleeves, hoping to get them off the needle before I leave for Philadelphia so I can start the fronts while I'm on the plane- a good 5 hours of knitting should get me quite far along AND I get to listen to the iPod book too.
ELECTRONICA! Geesh. I have spent two days searching out little cords I need to make things work right. This doesn't even count the Big Trip I have to make to get The Apple Genius to look at why my Mac isn't recognising my printer. It worked fine, then it didn't. i uninstalled, I reinstalled, I downloaded drivers and software. No way. I was kinda hoping that having a Mac would end all this foolishness. Now I have to haul the computer and the printer in to have them deal with it but I will get the Tiger upgrade and have them see why Photoshop won't install at the same time to make it worth disconnecting and hauling...and being without!
But back to the issues at hand. My Palm was just about out of charge so I went to give it a zap and discovered that somehow I left that cord home. So I went in quest of a new one. Well, it seems that Tungsten E is pretty much obsolete and for some reason they change the little connecting tips for every new Palm they put out. Swift of them, eh? Well, it's So Swift that I will never buy another one. Finally found ONE friggin' cord that would plug into the Palm, but it isn't a regular AC charge- the other end is a USB that has to go into the computer. To charge??? Geesh. Compiling my confusion is the third end that plugs into the Sync part of the Palm and also works with my camera to download pictures, but I already have the camera cords so could care less about this two-headed dragon. Oh yeah, the 'extra' that I had to buy to simply charge this thng was a cigarette lighter adaptor. Like WHY would I want to charge the Palm in my car anyway? Anyway, the bottom line is that it works. But I have too much stuff.
So, the other problem is that I wake up with massive headaches lately, takes me two hours and a couple of Advil to overcome. I think it's caused by the iPod earphones because when I wake up at 4 AM I listen to one of my Audiobooks (currently 'A Million Little Pieces' thanks to Oprah). So, I decided to try one of the pillow speakers like I have at home to listen to 'Coast to Coast' in the middle of the night. Off I go to find a Radio Shack but it isn't whare I thought it was. I called home and Ralph checked the phone book and said the nearest one is 30 minutes away. Damn, forget it. When I got home I checked on line and there are THREE within a mile but they aren't listed in the old phone book we have. So I plug the address into TomTom and off I go. They had what I needed plus I got new little foam thingys for the regular earphones- maybe they will help too.
And my next rant- Blogger isn't geared to Macs- I don't get any choices for font or color here that I get on the old PC at home. No links, and no little red Blogger 'B' in the menu that allows me to grab sites wherever I go! A small annoyance, for sure, but an annoyance anyway. I do so want to think that my Mac is cool but so far it just isn't doing it. The other thing is that I don't have the choice of html and 'compose' (wysiwyg) any more. So, as you can tell, I haven't left my post much to have all these electronic glitches.
They came by and tied up my trees that had fallen over in the hurricane. you can't tell it ever happened and I never got back to take the picture of the three tyrees lying on the lawn. They bent the steel gate they were originally tied to when they fell, but once the bougainvilla comes back (a hopeful statement!) it will all be hidden. We took Molly up to the clubhouse for ice cream the other day and all the ceiling fans were dangling by their electric cords, the blades ripped off and blown away. Who would have thought to get up there and remove the blades to the outdoor fans?
I just got a call from our Dallas friend Chris and he had gastric bypass surgery in August and is down 60#s! We have been so worried about his weight that this is great news. He is bitching because his golf swing is gone. Tough.
