Well, after my visit to Bulges I came home and the iPod was still on but I was able to turn it off- the battery was half gone. I left it again for some more time and Wowzer- I could then get it to the menu! So I stuck it back on the charger and am leaving it alone until I pack it up for the plane tomorrow.
Then TY decided he needed to write a letter and I RE-informed him that the printer wasn't being recognized and I had spent three days on the problem so far. The next step is to pack up the bloody printer with the computer (the genius-with-Tourettes who works at Apple said I can leave the mouse and keyboard home- gee thanks!) and haul it off to the Apple store. So I was doing that when I decided to try **One**More**Time**. So I uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded drivers and PDF booklets with abandon. Finally the printer appeared on the list it was supposed to be on, and VOILA!!, I printed the Google home page. Of course it was abundantly clear that now I need to change the cartridges but I am saving that for my next adventure.
"Oh Sandy/Mom, get a Mac, you'll love it and everything is so EASY TO UNDERSTAND." Bullshit. I got a 10 page manual and then bought a 900 page book to explain the manual.
Anyway, as frustrating as the day has been it's also been one of accomplishment. Nate called again from Australia just now and is enjoying and exploring around between shoots but hasn't gotten too far afield from Sydney. He will be back in LA on Sunday at 11AM, but the weird part is that he doesn't leave there until Sunday night so he was talking to us from the future! Would love to tell him to look up the Old Boyfriend, circa 1964/65. I googled him and found him as a professor of Economics- boy, I'm glad I didn't fall for that and go raise wallababies for all these years. Guess a meeting may be a bit awkward for both of them though
I have to pack a suitcase with many layers of stuff for Philadelphia- I don't have a workable coat so am dealing with sweaters under a jacket- hope I will be warm enough. Yesterday I sprang for some dark socks and I have some gloves somewhere. So, that's what I'm doing next.
More good news today is that I finished the sleeves to the baby cashmere sweater. I wanted to only take a little bit of knitting on the plane, not two huge long sleeves dragging yarn all over the place, so now can take just one side of the front and start it tonight to get rid of the smaller needles for the edging. Gotta keep this easy. Maybe my next picture will be of all 4 pieces together before I start the front edging. I am definitely NOT making the ruffle, it's too big and floppy for my already big and floppy chest.
Can't wait for this weekend- it will be fun!
