It's a *small works* after all

First, a stop in at the QA@10 show, direct to us from Houston and Lyon France! This show is in arranged 4 different rooms of studio space and encompasses 10 years of challenges from various members of the QA list. I didn't have my camera for the first three rooms, and was able to get one lousy picture, pity for you it is of my included piece (the one on the right.) To the left is Rachelly Roggle's and Deanna Apfel's- sorry I do not have the names of the pieces or the challenges they were entered into. It's somewhat disconcerting to have a show spread throughout so many rooms but the more I thought about it the more I appreciated it- it seems so much more intimate to only have 6-8 pieces to concentrate on at a time.

Next we have the walls at the Small Works Show at the Ayers Loft Galleries. I will fill in names and titles later because the lables weren't up until we were almost out the door and I don't want to get anybody listed incorrectly.

Well, I can't list this one wrong- the center piece is Elizabeth Poole's embroidery figure study, and the box high up there is my 'Banyon Box', suprisingly the only 3-D piece in the show. The required dimensions didn't include a 'depth' so I figured I would take advantage of it.

This framed piece on the left is Karen Bettercourt's, and the two smaller pieces to the right are both by Nancy Crasco.

Meanwhile, back at the Western Ave Studio space, I managed to run up to the Classic Elite yarn wholesale outlet. As I was looking through the bins and trying to snare a few future articles of clothing, I found the sweater samples. Amazingly enough this one fit like it was knitted on me, and even after I buy the buttons I have scored a real deal. The sweater cost me much less than the skeins of cotton to knit it! And ya gotta love that color.
Molly wouldn't get off the sweater as I was trying to take the picture- she is very proud of her new shampoo and blow-dry and wanted to show you. Doesn't she look like a dandelion? When she is moving the hair is just blowing everywhere. Geesh, I want another one! (dog please, don't need another sweater!)

Sandy,
Thanks for posting photos of the Small Works show. It looks like there is fantastic work included. Will you still be doing a review of the show? I hope so, I've been looking forward to it!

From your photos, I think I like the way this was hung. I love to have some space around a piece so that I can have some alone time with it!!
