This was Ms. September but I don't think I included her in the 5 quiltlets I sent off so it's OK to show her here. For any of you 15 yar old GUYS out there who are expecting a cheesy photo of a real Ms. September, sorry, wrong link. Bad Google! Finally got the set of this year's journal quilts mailed off to Houston, made the CD for them, wrote a check and away they went yesterday. I stuffed my other project for them, the Hand, into the same box so I hope they figure it out. I cannot begin to say how relieved I am to get both of those out of the house so I can concentrate on the Acton show.
Also, I was finally able to grab some of the Gees Bend stamps
while I was at the post office. They are wonderful- now I need to go get more so I can use them for life! I checked oput other commemorative stamps available and these are so much better- I do not want motorcycles or Judy Garland or (the worst!) Disney cartoons on my envelopes. Anyway, they are very beautiful.I finished up the 'Handwork' quilt top and got the backing all pressed and pieced to fit. Also I cut a sleeve and put the lable on, and the binding is all sewn and ready to go BUT I don't have any batting! I *thought* I did but it is all miscelaneous chunks of unmatched types so I can't even piece it like I usually do. Geesh, it's been years since I bought batting- I always just *had* batting! So, that is today's project- buy the stuff and race home to get it layered so I can start some rudimentary quilting and put this baby to bed. It does fel good that I will have 2 new pieces for the show, and it would be very nice if I could keep up the production. It always feels so good to be producing. What I really need is a troop of employees who would take over after I do the tops and handle the layering (I HATE layering, even when I use my spray glue) and the quilting (Oh, maybe I HATE quilting them more...something to ponder!). Anyway, I think I am going to do some (don't write this down) hha haaaa haaaannnnnnnn handquilting. Oh geesh, my fingers hurt already.
And speaking of fingers, I am wrecking my keyboard with all the bacon grease on my fingers this morning. We had fresh bacon from Mandy's pig today and the house smells wonderful, but there is a slimy coating of grease everywhere. Molly certainly appreciated her piece- think she swallowed it whole. This year Mandy has ordered a lamb- can't wait to see how I can 'help her out' with some freezer space on that too. Lucky me.
OK, off to buy fiberfill.
