HALLOWEEN SURPRISE

Yes, it was a surprise to open my e-mail this morning and find a note from my old friend MooGu Sue in CA. She had found this picture that I had apparently sent her back in 1979 as she was cleaning her garage (I will not ask why pictures of my kids are in her garage 3000 miles away!) Is it not just cute as hell?

I do remember that immediately after this picture was taken that both of them started crying- the lamb because the glue that was holding the cotton balls in place all over his jammies had hardened and was hurting, and the pumpkin- well, she just cried or whined all the time anyway. But at this one moment in time, weren't they just exactly what little kids should be?

OK, so that's my one small Happy Halloween memory. Most of the other memories I have from that awful day involves fake blood and ill fitting costumes and tantrums because they had to wear jackets or couldn't just wander at will over the town. And of course the lovely sugar high the whole family had to endure for a week before to a week after. My trick of only buying awful cancy never really worked because after I stole all the good stuff from their bags I would then eat the icky stuff. Like Tootsie Rolls- why do those things even exist? I hate 'em but if that's all there is, I eat them with glee.

Have a Happy Halloween with few tears!
