Spiderdo Army Bookseller

Can't believe it's been a week since I have written! Maybe I can catch up in three sentences:

Sentence #1 Working on stuff for show, all done except for wall lables. Here are the quilts all rolled up and collages stacked to be taken down to the car:

Sentence #2 Catching up on shopping since I am getting cold in my summery clothes- needed turtlenecks and shoes with toes, still can't find a coat.

Sentence #3 And I have been sitting in my off time with the most fun knitting I have done in a long time (more in a minute, gotta load the pictures)
OK, so what IS it, you may ask? I have asked several people what they think it is and they so far have all answered that it must be a jacket for Molly. Nope. Look here to see what happens when it is re-folded:

This was a little baby sweater mentioned on a knitting blog I came across, apparently invented by Elizabeth Zimmerman back in 1968, so I set my sights on finding it for that 'someday eventuality' that I may need a baby sweater. So the other night I was heading towards the elevator when my neighbor came out the door to catch me- she showed me this very pattern she had just finished- I squealed and hope I didn't scare off the fates, but again there is Synchronicity at work for me. She offered the pattern and I gratefully 'borrowed' it and zipped it up in 2 days out of old koigu leftovers. I know, I know, not very baby-like but frankly I think baby colors are icky so this little sweater will be saved for a baby who will appreciate it. Maybe a little Chinese baby!

One of the suggestions in the pattern is to put buttonholes on both sides as you are knitting on the front bindings, so I did- she says to simply sew the buttons on whichever side is appropriate for the baby's gender which I think is brilliant! Of course I am new to this knitting thing and very simple things thrill me. I am also thrilled by yo's- the ability to make a hole ON PURPOSE! Amazing.

This morning I started on a second sweater, this time out of some skeins of cotton variagated from purples to greens and I also have a skein of chartreuse to make the stripes.

Molly is at the groomers today so it is very quiet around here. They have instructions to trim her all over to 2", and whatever they do will be a major improvement on her current ratty look. Hope the new groomer can handle her 'clean-up' after I butchered her long flowing tresses.
