This is a collage I finished yesterday of a local dumpster at a building site. I went back the other day to get more photographs of it but they changed dumpsters on me so I guess it will be a series of whatever dumpsters show up until the house is completed. UNfortunately, because of my poor craftsmanship, nasty work habits, and, OK, haste to finish, it has developed a case of collage-herpes and has huge blisters all over the front surface because I had a brain-fart in the middle of the night that my iron would perhaps flatten out a few tiny lumps. Well, it didn't. What it DID do was separate the top surface of the photopaper from the next layer. Now, since this is after all a DUMPSTER, and has it's own peeling and bubbly paint surface, I am not too distressed. But frankly, I need to redo the whole friggin thing starting with printing a batch of new images. Oy.
This one isn't attached yet, just laid out how I want to work on it today. I am calling this one Palm Voyure (spell-check, where ARE you?) since there is evidence of the process, unintentionally included. I do love the various textures of this particular palm.
This isn't black and white, it is actually very subtle colors of very dark green against a pale gray-blue sky. These Australian pines were pretty much stripped bare from the hurricanes last year, but this year they are back and fluffier than ever. I have sort of reengineered the photos, now I must find the perfect backing.
