Christiana  Chromatogram

Got a note from Kipling, the other person who uses spam headers, and she has done an illustration for Cloven Chimera Buyers! Her link is Fresh Spam. Who knew that there are all sorts of Chimeras! Maybe her link to my header is why the stats have had a wee blip this week.

Here are a couple of chimera varieties, apparently they can be anything, like gargoyles. Who knew. So I go and look it up:

chi·me·ra also chi·mae·ra (kī-mîr'ə, kĭ-) n.
An organism, organ, or part consisting of two or more tissues of different genetic composition, produced as a result of organ transplant, grafting, or genetic engineering.
A substance, such as an antibody, created from the proteins or genes or two different species.
An individual who has received a transplant of genetically and immunologically different tissue.
A fanciful mental illusion or fabrication. (**the one Kipling and I are dealing with)

I have been internet-less for days now, but when the cable also went out today I went berzerko. I was forced into doing Other Things so I took down the laundry room scrim curtains held up with the grapevines and fake leaves- it hadn't been moved since 1992 so was a tad buggy and dusty. This project led me to drag the ladder into the new studio and remove ther scrim yardage on those windows too. i had starfish glued to the wall with the scrim draped over them- what can I say- it looked good at one point. More bugs and dust. While the ladder was in the house I changed a dead ceiling bulb or two, I hung four of my collages in the hall, and rearranged a bunch of other stuff on the walls. I took down the plywood table from the studio and stuck it in the garage which made room to pull the sewing table out so there is more room. It is startiing to look like a studio- but I really need the bed gone and some homosote for the wall. I have put in an order for new closet doors when they do the renovation so maybe I can get that done at the same time. And I will start looking for shelves and storage boxes. Wheezing along, I decided I needed a break from the ladder so I planted Molly on the hassock and went to work grooming her for a bit. Then went back to tossing stuff and straightening out the linen cabinet. For god's sake. I would certainly rather have been planted in front of either my monitor or the tv screen. Now here it is at 10:30 PM and the ladder is still in the middle of the studio. And I have my internet back. And yes, the two are connected.

Last weekend I went to the outdoor art festival that I worked at last year- I vowed never to volunteer for that again because it was 95 that day. Well, this year it was about 40 with gusty winds, thought I would freeze in my tracks. I ended up spending $20 just to get in and eat a wee lunch. I didn't buy a thing, had seen it all before except for two young women who were selling quilts that I had never seen before. One was a booth of postage stamp quilts of nudes but the artist needed a little drawing tutorial- plus they were all in similar colors and values so didn't pop out screaming BUY ME. The other were simple raw edged circles in squares, very dirivitive of Nancy Crow's Chinese heads. these were fairly small, framed, and off the wall expensive for what they were. Don't get me wrong, I hope they both sell out and go home with the just the canvas booth rolled around the stakes but frankly that isn't going to happen until they make art instead of making things to sell. Nasty, aren't I?

I have been in trouble on ebay again, got a bag delivered yesterday and won some Very Cool shoes today that I just found out about- was afraid I would forfeit with no internet.. Now I have to stay away from that. Not much else to do- I would kill for a monitor that attaches to the inside of my glasses like those kids developed at MIT.

Nice, eh? Now all I need is a pole.

So that's about it- go see Kipling West's Fresh Spam site and stick it in your bookmarks. I am going to go knit my way through the Dog Whisperer.
