(Sandy's 'c'mon down' speech: this is really a class on developing one's own personal vision, a thread to our shared past, using up that old stuff again. I would use new fabrics but I don't have any more shelf space so I now have a rule to first use up the bags and boxes of vintage 'treasures' I have accumulated over the years. Surprisingly I found that I much prefer handling other people's textiles because of our shared history and the ability to bring these found pieces back to the light of day! So please bring a bag or two of any old stuff you have lying around, maybe some newer fabrics that coordinate or at least resonate, and a devil-may-care attitude to cut it up and sew it down. The more tattered and useless the piece, the better! We WILL cut it up, even if it takes a pep talk to get going. Forget sentimental attachments to grandma's useless amacastars, bring your old 'cutter quilts', holey embroidered bed linens, stained kitchen textiles, spotted tablecloths, ripped crochet, and any other oddity you find compelling. We WILL have fun, promise. And yes, some art principles will be included free of charge!) E-mail me if you have any questions.
Peter Clark, some of his excellent collages of animals
A g a n e t h a D y c k, a Canadian artist who works with bees. This is an example of a shoe left in the bee hive as it becomes covered with wax and bee parts and pieces of comb.
Here are some prototype new 'Merit' badges you may never see sewn on a sash.
this one is awarded for Bigfoot and Yeti Study, one I can probably get without any further study.
My latest Koigu purchase, I haven't decided what exactly I will do with it other than pat it every time I go by the bag. Ya know, I don't even LIKE pink and purple, but these colors are so incrredibleI was just sucked in. Now I need a few more compatibles so I can start working. Oh, didn't I say a few posts ago about how I won't be using wool any more? Scratch that.
