My good news of the day in spite of my poor reading record. Maybe magazines count now? I sure am reading a lot of them lately, none very literate, now that I assess the situation.
I have been seriously (huh?) working on the silk jacket/vest from the fabric from Britex. I have decided to add some embroidery following along the lines of the damask pattern more to cover up an error in cutting than my need for embellishment. Seems I cut out the right and left sides not realizing that my hand made pattern on newsprint from years ago had two different cuts- the right hand side has a longer front than the left. So when I got them cut I realized my error and have since added this note onto the pattern piece 'for next time'. SO, basically I either had to use the wrong side of the fabric outside and make the top as intended or change the left side to the one that flaps over the front. Because I really had planned the outside (yellow-green) as the feature I decided to go with the backwards fastening- the wrong side of the fabric is more green-yellow. So far so good. I've faced the armholes with a bias of some metallic plaid that I am using also as piping around the fronts, and now I am doing the embroidery with varigated floss from yellows through greens to deep blue. Looks quite wonderful on the stiff and crunchy silk and catches the light nicely.
