Vertically Centered Fore-Edge

I have been fooling around with trash bags way too much- enjoyed cutting them into strips and crocheting them, enjoyed playing around with laminating them together with the iron though that hasn't led anywhere but the wastebasket so far. Then I saw this- directions for Plastic Bag Bras and decided that it was exactly what needed to be done to my huge Linens and Things bag. (*Huge* being the operative word)
Sorry it's so blurry, it was late at night and I copuldn't use the flash because of the mirror, but you get the idea, right? Of course had I been less modest it would show up better against my glistening golden tanned skin.

So I cleaned out the studio, at least the first layer so I could get to the work table and came across the box of eBay ping pong balls from the turtle necklace way back a year ago. Since I had to order a gross to get maybe 12 I have quite a few left so thought maybe they would make interesting beads. I also had some plastic axles (???- the black tubes that come rolled inside the dog's poop bags), so I covered them all with pattern paper and started hunting down things that worked with the pieces. I had a whole box of old ivory and celluloid buttons and rings so used everything I could. I also found a great vintage toggle button got the clasp. I wish I would have had a few more decoupaged pieces to make it even longer but it is now about 22", a nice length that doesn't jostle into your dinner plate. The Sputnik Necklace:

and a detail:

I just love chunky jewelery but cannot wear anything too heavy any more because it starts to annoy me before I get out the door. The ping pong balls are a perfect antidote to the problem as these weigh nothing.

I had strips left over from the wee baby jacket so I covered a bunch more ping pong balls with these and added buttons from my Bakelite collection- what in hell am I saving them for??? Again I found a Bakelite toggle for the clasp and did a blanket stitch in crochet thread for a loop. This one is called New Growth Necklace.

and a detail of this one too.

They look best when worn with a real bra, preferably a minimizer.

And the good news is that I still have a few ping pong balls left. Tonight I will stick them in my bath water to have pretend bubbles.
