You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat. - Albert Einstein
A friend who wants my head to explode just sent me this:
Returned last night at midnight after an exhausting FL trip. I had intended to send updates from my new laptop, but found out I have some sort of 'issue' downloading pictures from the camera. And there was also some sort of 'issue' finding wireless internet off-season. I spent one early morning sitting in the parking lot of a favorite restaurant stealing their signal, then another hot afternoon in the parking lot of the HOA grabbing theirs- even though the screened porch picked up their signal a few months ago, I couldn't get it this trip. Finally I went to a breakfast place to fortify myself and sure enough, on the door was a sign that they had wireless, so back to the car and out with the laptop where I got bacon grease all over the keyboard as I checked 87 emails. Off-season no one is there, the roads are empty and everyone has turned off their connections. Lesson learned. When I go down and stay in my own house, the computer is always on so it's no problem but everything is in storage now.
Road Warrior, heading into a major thunderstorm but undaunted on the quest for the perfect tile backsplash. Splash Splish.
I spent every day out and about picking out this and that, driving here and there, and falling into a heap at night. I ate breakfast every morning, then ate junk late afternoon and came back to the cottage where I fell into a snooze watching things like 'My Super Awesome Sweet 16 Party'. But that is a whole 'nuther story.
While there, the guys were installing the floor and it is fabulous. The first day they were all huddled in a corner figuring out the pattern, a dry run. By yesterday afternoon the whole living room was done and they were backing themselves into the studio and hall. I couldn't walk on it as the mud needed time to set up, then it needs to be grouted, but they should finish this week and that job will be complete so the rest of the mess can start.
I found the glass tiles for the backsplashes, I picked carpet for 2 rooms, got some great wallpapers- the woman who owns the wallpaper place wasn't there so I am hoping I can afford them. And I went to ABC carpet where I swooned over a rug with crazy Turkish fish- not an option but I am distraught over it.
Now, I am getting ready to go find Mr. Nate something spiffy for his 30th birthday. I never thought I would be old enough to have such old kids, but life does go on whether you're busy or not. We're taking him and the GF out for dinner- hope they bring out that cupcake and candle and embarrass him to death.

And a gentle reminder as to exactly what I am doing, thanks to Rice Village. (If you add up all the lucky numbers you get my age.)
