Textural Demonic Dingbat

Another shot from the Berkshires;

OK, all you guys who caught me! I got the html fixed on the SAQA ring over there to the right. I messed with it yesterday to try to get it moved slightly toward the right margin and somehow stopped some coding from showing. But it's there now in it's shiny glory so you can skip right on by me to see what other people are doing.

Today I have two tutorials to keep you busy. The first one is a Bleach Stencil design tutorial with this cool illustration and step by step process. The artists designed this for a tee shirt but it could be adapted for anything.

My only argument with him is that he really needs to soak the item in anti-chlor (contact Pro Chemical for a batch) to stop the bleaching action over time- but you knew that, didn't you?

The next tutorial is strictly for fun, especially if you know a lot of kids. This one is for Witch Kitchen Jars. The artist goes that extra length to make things look real- perfect for a Hallowe'en party, or just to scare off house guests. The great part is that these things keep from year to year if you don't want a jar of gnome brains on your kitchen shelf at Easter time.

Next I am gonna rant about Ikea. I have never been there before but my daughter wanted to go look at baby stuff so off we went. We couldn't find our way in, we couldn't find our way around even with the little map, we were lost and couldn't find the exit, we were tired and hungry and late getting home and then had to hit the warehouse for our purchases, but could barely figure out how to do it. We felt old and stupid, always had the wrong cart and couldn't find the Right Cart. The place was too big and unmanagable and we only have two masters degrees so can't return until we take a class apparently! Stuff was priced wonderfully- quite a change from my normal haunts, and we found most everything we wanted plus a whole lot more but geesh- it took us five hours, included much heavy lifting (all on my part because she isn't supposed to lift more than 20#.) Today I am sore BUT am about to cook a mess of short ribs in my new cast iron chartreuse pot and have assembled my spiffy little red light with wheels. But I won't be going back, I don't speak Swedish. And a word of warning, the Pear Cider is awful.

I had a delightful email exchange with the author of the bleach tutorial. He was satisfied that his process was adequate for the purpose. When I stop and think how my sons treat T-shirts of any design as nearly disposable, I was satisfied.
