Back, still not in the saddle

Here I am back in Florida. I flew down early last week and TY drove with Miss Molly for three days. Who has the better deal? You betcha- me. So, here is a short list of what hasa happened to me since I got back:

1. My BRAND NEW MAC iBook doesn't charge so I took it back, it's somewhere between here and Tennessee being fixed, won't be returned until the end of next week at the soonest.

2. The house I was going to stay in was covered with dead Palmetto bugs (cockroaches on steroids, for those of you in northern climates). I started to sweep them up but found a small herd that were viable, so ran like hell from the house and locked them all in together. I found another place to stay for a few nights and have arranged for the exterminator to go over the house again, then for a cleaning crew to dispose of the bodies- we have to move in there on Tuesday. I bet I don't take my shoes off the whole time I am staying there.

3. We got out house color approved, but it was scary for a bit as to whether they would go for it or not. Geesh, it's not like it's purple or anything.

The house status: we should be able to move in at the end of next week. The closets are done, the kitchen is done with the appliances installed, the countertops are on, and today the rugs are going into the bedroom and the den. They are sending in a guy to clean up all the stone dust, then getting it all inspected and THEN we can move in. The pool guys are there now, but they don't start the new surface until Monday. My studio is completely crammed full with all the stuff we didn't have moved out- our clothes, kitchen stuff, and all my studio equipment and supplies. And my computer. SO I have found a free station at the Homeowners Assn and they let me in to check email and order some stuff to be delivered to the nhouse after next week.

I never thought I would say how much I hate going out for all meals. And I cannot stop thinking about all those southern CA folks without their homes- at least I know what's happening to mine. This morning I was pissy because I don't have cuticle clippers- imagine that. All those people don't even have underwear and I am yakking on about cuticle clippers when I have options- I can bite it off or go two blocks to the drug store. Those people have nothing and are faced with worse options that living with dead cockroaches for a few days. Bet there is not a single one of them that wouldn't happily switch identities with me immediately.

And to complicate matters, I have been tagged by Ms. PaMdora to tell seven secrets no one knows about me. Not too hard since no one here knows me any longer, but this will take some thought as well as another HOA break-in to post! To be continued.. (and I can't figure out how to make links on this temporary computer so that will have to wait.) Sorry.

1. I am an extrordinarily lucky person and have everything I could possibly need, but always want something else.

2. I have reached every goal I ever had for myself with my art. Granted I never thought it would go anywhere, and didn't reach very high, but the very fact that I have done it all is so satisfying and has taken the edge, the need, away so now I can branch out and do whatever I want.

3. I have great feet and love high heels.

4. I don't like presents very much, even less, surprises. I'm always afraid my face shows my true feelings.

5. I think people with facelifts look like aliens.

6. I no longer like chocolate, prefer vanilla, but never tell anyone that because they will think I am boring.

7. I love giving dinner parties but HATE having to talk to the guests- if I had my way I would just be in the kitchen making things pretty and delicious.

SO- I need to go check the 250 emails that have accumulated. Hope I get back to a regular posting schedule soon. Until then I am knitting up another scarf out leftover yarn scraps and watching the Sox.

Go Sox!
