Pretty in Blood Orange

Happiness is the Red Sox winning the Series. I didn't watch a second of it but kept creeping around the corner to check the scores because, ya see, there is something spooky about me watching- if I do, they lose. No question, they lose in astonishing ways. So I no longer watch and looky what happens!

Sorry I haven't been able to tag anybody yet- it'll happen, stay tuned. Computer problems rampant, I couldn't charge my laptop battery so the poor machien had to go to Tennessee to be fixed- it was sent on Wednesday evening and returned to me this morning, Monday. nd now it charges but my wifi signal is so bad it keeps cutting out. I don't even know whos I am using but they don't have a password and I am their new best friend. So today two good things happened- I got my computer back and it seems I can get (intermittent) wifi at this new borrowed house.

Spent the morning here getting bugs swept up and the floors scrubbed so it will be at least a bit more comfortable than the last borrowed house. Had to arrange for gas delivery, and there is some problem with the plumbing that was installed so I have basically been extinguishing fires all day. But every day is another little step closer to actually living in our own space again. Seems to me I swore that I would never let this homeless thing happen again after the condo problems.

Tomorrow I hope to post a few pictures but can't download today. SO I will tell you about an old friend who sent me an invitation to his open studios this weekend. We dated for about two weeks back in college but we were in different schools so it was pretty much doomed, but it did lead to great pen-palishness for a long time. I always considered him a good friend. We both moved to Boston after graduation and reconnected now and then but had different lives that moved in different directions. He took off for CA and I got a few notes now and then but basically we lost touch until I saw some work of his in the Channel 2 auction and I knew he was back, this time as a photographer. I saw his work in several magazines and in a gallery here and there and somehow we got back in touch and I bought a few of his photographs. (And love them still after 15 years)

Well, I got this open studio notification and went online to see what he was up to at his studio site and saw a reference that he had been ill. He had been in a prestigious gallery show recently so I went hunting around there for information and ended up at a newspaper review of his work, which it turns out is all about his hospitalization and recovery from a bone marrow transplant. I feel so awful for him and all he's been through and wrote him a quick note before I left Boston. I am so concerned and wish him all the best . Even thought I don't actually see him, I still want him in my life- I want to KNOW he is alright, healthy and happy. So, in spite of the crap I am going through about getting my house renovated, there are many more serious problems out there and I AM concentrating on keeping things in perspective.
