The Official Thanksgiving Post

Sitting here waiting for the turkey which is being grilled in the New Grill I put together the other day. Yeah, it's charcoal, our fuel of choice. Only two people are joining us, the aunt and uncle who gave us their house of palmetto bugs. Thankfully I am over the disgust as these are my favorite relatives by marriage. Here is the turkey:
Take my word for it- he's in there.

And here are my other house pictures and I have tried to line them up with the 'before' versions when I could find them.

The Bathroom:
Here are the 5' square windows in the shower stall- we has them etched with grass shapes so we don't have to take showers in bathing suits any more.

Here is the shower, which we are calling the horse stall- there's even room for him to turn around.

The Studio:
Looks nice and neat, eh? The desk went together in no time, but it was supposed to be silver, not GREEN.
So I move over 2 steps and here is really what the studio looks like. All that white stuff in the foreground is the linen I bought from Jane Steinberg when she closed her dye studio a few weeks ago. Someday it will be a contendah... I have changed my mind on the project I originally bought it for.
And here is the front of the studio with the shelf unit completely out of whack to put on the bottom shelf. I took it apart twice, got so frustrated that I am hiring a guy to come fix it and put the other two together. It was supposed to be easy- I cannot even lift it!

The Living Room/ Dining Room/ Kitchen:

These two pictures are the way it used to be. I have thrown out a whole load of stuff.

New cupboards, new floor, everything but the couch and table are new. Note the door to the left of the refrigerator- it is the former laundry room but we extended the kitchen into it, then added a little wet bar area behind the refrigerator
But still have the washer and dryer in there.
The main island is IceStone, a composit of recycled bottles and concrete. The glass bits in this one are mostly brown, probably beer bottles. How nice is that! The tiles are glass and the picture doesn't show them sparkling.
Living in one room isn't all that bad, as long as you have a place to escape to. Here is TY's new favorite toy. I think I am going deaf.
The three pots under the tv will be planted with aloe- the tops will almost reach the screen and they will be big and spiky.

The Bedroom:

Outside:
The 'Before' Alligator

New pavers and a black pool make reflections- it keeps out the alligators.

The covered area, the extra room. We have never been bitten by anything out here and the only bugs we see are the mud daubers, a form of wasp that build a series of little round nests that all line up like large black pearls.

The house looks wonderful.
I don't know what I like best.
You've got a new house in an old shell.
Better than moving.
But I guess you really moved - sorta!

Looks like my idea of heaven.

Man that place is swank-looking. Is it really yours, or did you just scan some photos from some slick magazine? This has certainly changed my opinion of this blog, I had no idea it was being written from such a high-caliber style environment. The alligator does help make it more real though! :)
