Remember back this past fall when I was so excited that I was going to meet a cousin I hadn't seen since he was about four? He and his wife were touring in Maine and had an extra night in Boston before heading back to the 'other' coast, so we went and fetched them and had a wonderful time covering ...umm...sixty years in 3 hours! It was a great experience and we hit it off well.
So, also remember that a few weeks ago I mentioned I had gotten 2 Christmas cards addressed to my dad that went through FOUR forwardings and finally reached me in Florida? One of the cards was from a cousin who didn't know he had died, so I wrote a note to thank them for sending cards all those years, but- and so on.
It never rains but it pours. Well, drizzles. My cousin googled me and there I was- he emailed me and sounds like a great guy so we have been sending mail back and forth. Seems his father-in-law lives in the next town to me so next time they visit, I am on the dance card. I can't wait to meet them, hope that the trip fits into my impending grandma role this spring. I just got through sending off the 1947 family portrait with his parents, though he wasn't born yet. I'm glad I have that one with me at least.
Yesss, I DO have a family!
