Bizzy as a Bee

First day home and I was disgusted with the state of my closet. There is stuff in there that I moved in here with 10 years ago, stuff with tags still on, and stuff I had long ago 'grown' out of. So I was ruthless- took everything out and piled it on the bed, tried it all on, and tossed unwanted and unfit stuff on the floor. This is the 'Before' shot.

And here we are at the 'After' shot. Still too many clothes, but this is for all 4 seasons and all imaginable fashion necessities.

Here is the discard pile- many things in perfectly good working order for someone else, but I do not have time to go through it all again for consignment, so ...

it's bagged up for Goodwill. Five lawn and leaf bags full. Now all I have to do is haul it over there, today's project.

So, on the first night home I sat and knitted on the baby alligator scarf for Ms. Hazel's cold winter neck. I stayed up way too late and finished it up, except I think I may knit some orange eyeballs for him before I give it to her.

Day 2 I discovered some scary stuff in my cupboards, enough to caution any of you that eating anything canned in my house might not be a good idea. Here is my Thai fish sauce, should have been used 5 years ago. oops.

And a miscellaneous can that was apparently boxed up from the past house, spent 6 months in storage, and moved into my cupboard here. February 97. oh oh.

Second night I was going to get some sleep but started working on my next collage. This will be called 'Boys in Trees' and will have to exist pretty much as is because I went off and forgot the big packet of fabrics I was going to use. And telling TY to find a pile of fabrics in the FL house would be like sending him to the beach for a specific shell. So this may stay pretty much the same except for added stitching.
Which brings us to Day #3. Mother's Day. I finally finished, completely, label and sleeve and all, the 'Tide Pool' quilt. I need to take the 'good pictures' of it next, but here it is finished. I never thought I would see the day...

And it's detail.

Nate took me out to dinner last night to Green Street where his SO works. She waited on us, kind of a weird thing, but she is a darned good waitress and handled the whole room by herself with grace and humor. (Can you tell I like this girl?) So, if you're in Cambridge and are really hungry (or more probably really thirsty!) go see Amy at Green St. right off Central Square.
It's scary outside, just like places like this should be. AND there is a parking garage next door, unimaginable in Cambridge. AND they have an offal-of-the-day selection
(tongue taquitos to die for!). AND the other little plate offering was sauteed pork belly which I loved but Nate didn't. AND they also have an amazing drink menu. I guess I would describe the food menu as comfort food. Nate had a lamb shank the size of Rhode Island and I had pork schnitzel.

I would have liked to get into the kitchen and tell them to hold back a flavor or two on all their dishes, just a little more simplification here and there, but a great place all around. I was overdressed because I didn't have either a backpack or my jeans, but at least my color of the night was gray so I fit in just fine in spite of my suburban mother-y smell.
